Looks like the BBC are going to use this as leverage to get their own local breakfast rules relaxed and scrap the ban on them airing music between 7-8.30am, instead pledging to make breakfast shows 60% speech.
That sounds worse. Many ages can listen to BBC Local Radio speech shows and find out about local news and information. The minute they play a song from their easy listening old skewing playlist suddenly listeners realise they are listening to a station aimed at the older listener and will switch off.
"You're listening to BBC Radio Localsville with me a minor local radio presenter, today on breakfast we'll be discussing how Brexit will affect Nowhere and Localsville, this is followed by a flirty chat with the travel girl from Inrix and what is Localsville's favourite biscuit? But first, here's Two Hearts by Phil Collins on your only local breakfast show"
Yes it’s a gossip Twitter account, but it does have a good track record - including breaking that Pandora is joining Heart (as announced earlier this week).
I wish I could wake up with @AmandaHolden, weekday mornings from 6. Anyone else?
