Global Radio axes all regional/local breakfast shows

I see that there has been another announcement that Bauer has bought UKRD to add to the Lincs FM group, Celador Radio and Wireless Group local stations.
Consolidation continues in the commercial radio world.
I don't think it leaves any other sizable groups to be bought in the UK now, it's all either Global or Bauer.

Nope. Nation, Quidem and KMFM but otherwise that's it.

The CMA are looking into the acquisitions, but apart from Yorkshire I can't see too many major issues.

One thing the standard of community radio in this is going to leap forward in the next few months.

There's a few independents here and there, mostly very locally orientated stations. There's Communicorp too, though they're basically an offshoot of Global.


The CMA thing is interesting as there seemed to be the assumption that Bauer were going to be changing stuff as soon as they got in the door on Friday. There were even reports on DS of Lincs FM's online stream suddenly flipping to Magic. But they're 'hold seperate' for now and for a while

How long till Global and Bauer merge into one?
