Still doesn't make it right to watch stuff like Glasto on the TV, though, does it?

It's wrong to watch Glastonbury on the TV? I had no idea watching music on the telly was such a clear cut moral issue...

It's wrong to ALWAYS watch it on the TV, and never venture to gigs in your life ever. It's clear to me. Am I speaking Dutch today, or are you lot being either amazingly stupid or amazingly sensitive?

Yes, nothing beats the experience of going there and seeing it live for yourself and being in front of the stage whilst the band/singer performs live in front of thronging crowds.

That is, of course, when you're one of the lucky few that actually rings the right number at the exact mili-second the tickets go on sale, otherwise you're buggered.

And then of course there's the risk of drowning in the **** fields, choking to death on the amount of weed the hippies are smoking or being so far away from the stage that you can't actually see a thing.

TV brings things to people that they would have otherwise never have been able to see or do. It's like saying you should never watch a wildlife programme based on the Amazon jungle, without having the intention of actually going there one day.

Don't be such an idiot. You're taking the arguement to illogical extremes.

Fine, TV is great to see something you can't get to, but the impression I got from the original poster is that he had only ever armchaired Glastonbury - hence my reply.

How dare you call me an idiot - I'm entitled to my view on here without being insulted.
As for illogical arguments - you clearly can not read as there was nothing in Duke's post to remotely suggest s/he'd never been to a live concert or to Glastonbury. It was your weird take on the post that prompted me to respond.

So you've been to Glastonbury a few times then have you? Lucky you.

Not at all! I've never wanted to go to Glastonbury although I've had the chance to in the past. I'd love to have seen REM there a couple of years or so ago, and Pulp a few years before that as I don't deny they looked fantastically atmospheric. I've seen both those bands live a couple of times so I don't feel I've lost out!

I've seen 3 very different live music acts in the past month alone, I love live music.

I think is is fantastic that the BBC are bringing us the possibility of seeing a wide choice of live music on TV - surely this is a positive thing - and not "wrong" as some would have it?

I'll call you what you like if your arguements don't hold up.

Steady on. Have a read of what you wrote. Watching Glastonbury on the telly and never going might be something you don't like, and you might not recommend it to music lovers. You might even be offended by people who never go but always watch it on the telly.

But it clearly isn't wrong to watch Glastonbury coverage. It's not even wrong to watch it and never go. That's it really!

Well as I think my arguements do hold up (unlike yours) then it looks like I won't get chance for you to call me what I would like you to call me - but thank you for offering.

Anyway, sorry if my reply gave the wrong impression, I was just giving my views on the interactive feature (in the past I've had to stick with analogue), which seems an appropriate comment to make on this forum - I would love to go see the festival live - but it's just not possible.

I wouldn't apologise! Perhaps Uncle Bruce will think before jumping to conclusions about people in the future.

I think the interactive features at Glastonbury and Wimbledon are amazing!
