As much as I loved the show in the 90's, they could not bring it back for a one-off special. The cost of the production would be huge.

Knowing what ITV are like, if they did bring it back in some sort of a way, it would look really cheap and 'fake'. Look at when Ant and Dec brought back classic game shows, they weren't the same, fake looking sets, cheap and nasty.

If ITV were to commit themselves to a whole series like they did in 1992 when the Glads first started, and had the same high quality production quality it would work, but not if they made it look cheap, and NOT be using celebs instead of contenders. TV Presenters and Popstars aren't athletes.

Celeb specials for charity are ok for one-offs. The Gladiators don’t take it too seriously and would more then likely let them win an event just so they get the points.

Anyway, the Glads would be good if they came back, but just as long as its not a cheap and nasty version like 'the price is right' it now!!

If Challenge brought it back it might be just a good, however they would need help from another broadcaster to bring the show back.

This is why it should never be brought back. It wouldn't be 100% exactly the same as the original, and whatever was different, whether it was the set, the format, the presenter, it would be used to criticise it

As much as I loved Gladiators and have been watching the reruns on Challenge lately, I'm not sure how effective a comeback would be.

The original US series ended in 1995 when it was felt it had run it's course (and that incarnation was nowhere near as glitzy and tacky as our version) despite attempts to revamp it in it's final year, and when the UK series finally ended in 2000 it was felt to have somewhat outstayed it's welcome.

As has been said, one-offs aren't really viable on a programme with such high production values, but I'm not sure that a full series could be sustained any more. And to be honest, if a programme was considered to have got 'a bit tacky' in 2000, can you comprehend what it would be like now? It would be packed full of 'celebs' which chavscum might w*nk over but don't interest anyone with intelligence and made on a shoestring budget which would always be unfavourably compared with the original.
