Because BBC iPlayer is going to be released soon to the public, I was wondering.....

A: Is anyone going to download the software....
B: Is BBC going to get sued by Apple, because of its use of lowercase i. (I heard rumors that Apple is sending Cease and Desiest letter to anyone who names their products with lowercase i.)

Either that or he was using Safari for windows.

Some of us already have iPlayer, however I'm surprised they're releasing it to the public in the state its currently in.

I have to agree with you. I'm a tester for the player and there have been countless errors with it and I'll be really suprised if it does get released on time.

It refused to let me download anything this morning. I've had constant "no versions available" errors and the seperation of download manager and search is utterly bizzare.

Quite honestly if they release it to the public when they are planning to they'll be a laughing stock.

The BBC iPlayer holds no attraction for me if the programmes cannot be permanently retained. Rather like Sky Box Office movies.

Couldn't agree more. Practically every episode of any show that I've wanted to watch comes up as unavailable at the point where I should be able to download it. There have also been labelling errors aplenty, and I've succeeded in downloading two files which bore no relation to the ones that I selected.

That said, I do like the funky new iPlayer logo - although I was always more enamoured with the "iMP" moniker. Speaking of which, I must say that I found the iMP search and delivery environment far, far more useable than the iPlayer's endless website grids.

iPlayer is free you know, not like the rip off that is 4OD.

iMP was a far beter system. Everything about it was pleasant to use, not like 4OD or iPlayer. I suspect the people responsible for BBCi may have had a hand in with their "if you can make it complex and annoying, do so" way of thinking.

So is this what's causing all the problems with the Radio Player this week? (lots of shows missing etc)

I doubt it. There are iProducts everywhere, and you can't have a trademark on simply using a lowercase i at the beginning of a name.

There needs to be programmes on the BBC which are actually worth watching to warrant having this.

At the moment the only thing I really watch is Rome - and that ends Sunday.

And anything on BBC3 is repeated about 269 times a week anyway!
