Am I the only one finding the format of this programme slightly weird? It's as if two separate programme formats have been merged together, the result being a programme that doesn't feel quite right. At times it feels like it's being a behind the scenes spinoff show, with Stephen talking to the acts backstage just before they go on stage and after they've performed. The supposed candid comments from selected audience members before and after acts performed are rather fake, as with them wearing mics it's obvious they know they're being recorded.

I believe the programme is supposed to have a live final. It'll be interesting to see how much they have to alter the format of that programme when it's live.

Is it not good to see them playing with the format to these type of shows? They've added in elements which are already seen on XF & BGT's audition shows just with it being hosted as a big show making it different.

They've done a marvellous job creating such a massive and well designed set in studio 1 imo.

It should've taken notes from Splash (never thought anybody would ever say that) where you have a VT of their training, then do the act in the studio, and relevant comments follow. The behind the scenes element and audience conversations gives the impression that the show is a drama series about a production team working on a new entertainment show for ITV, which is supported by the clearly staged audience comments and the fact that a camera seems to stay fixed on Stephen Mulhern when they're rehearsing to look out for any reaction shots.

I thought this was going to be a tweaked version of Your Face Sounds Familiar, which is a lot more tolerable than this is.

It's absolutely trying though not to take note of Splash and every other reality format of the last decade by not doing the VT > Performance > Judges routine they all follow. I think it works well enough IMO - isn't revolutionary by any stretch of the imagination but better they tried than they didn't.

That routine isn't all that different. The judges panel is now the audience It's just throwing in some extra "behind the scenes" bits.

I think this is why I find the programme to feel odd. I don't mind the VT of the training and some of the behind the scenes, but I feel that should finish at the point of the end of the dress rehearsal. I'd then prefer after the acts had performed for the audience 'post-performance opinions' not to be shown straight away, but instead moving on and having Stephen announcing the next act. The audience opinions could then be included when they're recapping the acts that have preformed, along with an extra behind the scenes footage.
