Funny you should say that...... if they axed the TV show then I'm sure the presenters would be more than willing to move to U105.

The trail for tonight's Kelly show includes a stretched picture of Pauline Quirke about 10 years ago. It's so stretched that her head is the same shape as Zippy from Rainbow's.

Also, the first ad failed to run in the break during Emmerdale. It stuck for about 40 seconds, so UTV viewers just rejoined Emmerdale late.

That seems to happen most of the times an ad gets stuck but I have seen ,in the last year ot two or so , them pulling an ad to go back into the programme.

While they're at it, why not move UTV Live onto U105?

It seems to me that UTV are putting too much into their radio station in favour of their almost 46-year old television station - it probably won't be long until there's no continuity at all from Havelock House and we get to see sheep before the programmes and have to guess what's coming next.

Funny you should say that.................

Kelly gets the axe and he goes to U105
School Choir gets the axe

You should hear the other rumours going about staff..... For Sale sign anyone? Wink

I think there's a lot more to it than just rumours, at the end of the day UTV shareholders are like any other shareholders, so if ITV make the right offer they'll sell up the TV side of things. I'm guessing though they'll wait to see how U105 goes, if it needs bailing out and re-launching after a RAJAR or two, then the TV side can easily fund it, if it starts making money from day one, then the TV side will really be "up for grabs".

The sale of UTV to ITV plc has been on the agenda for years... I guess when it finally happens it may be a surprise - but not an unexpected one.

Now School Around The Corners got the chop!

So, thats Insight, UTV live / Sport and RPM remaining.

Not sure on Jennie Bristows shows but doubt they'll be back!

I fear I am asking a silly question, but is there ANYTHING on the cards to replace any of the programmes they have dropped?

When you look at the amount of local programming on BBC NI (which I would guess is currently at a higher level than at any time in the past) it really does put UTV to shame.

A Now, Next and After Slide appeared today during CITV, with the next programme at 8pm being The Bill.

I agree with Mark. It's a total shame that while BBC NI has put a great deal of resources into producing top quality regional programming, UTV are reported to be cutting back and cutting back again on their regional television output. They might as well take the network feed of ITV1 instead and be done with it. The more time goes on it seems the Television part of Ulster Television loses its meaning.

But at the end of the day, would OFCOM care? Hardly likely I imagine. UTV and OFCOM have always had a good relationship, it was OFCOM who gave UTV the licence for U105, and probably the best we are likely to get in terms of feedback from OFCOM is "We were disappointed to see UTV's regional production be cut back with the axing of many of its long-running and locally popular programmes, but...". Ironic really, as the OFCOM website suggests that should a devolved institution be restored to Northern Ireland (hardly likely too), UTV would be able to increase its opt-out time to the same level as Scottish and Grampian.

What is going to happen to Studio 1 at Havelock House once Kelly finishes? If there'll be no more Kelly or no more School Around the Corner (thank God!!!), I can't see it being put into use that much, unless they take out the audience seating. And do UTV have another production studio at Havelock House that was built as part of the extension in Year Zero (1993)? Wouldn't surprise me if they put Havelock House on the market sometime in the future if they have excess production capacity that is going to waste and costing them money (ahem) while being left empty.
