General Presentation on ITV1

This is not uncommon at all actually for a station to refresh their idents within a year of a new look.


ITV did it themselves with the celebrities back in 2002/2003, while C4 did it with the vertical stripes, introducing them in April 1999 and replacing the original set in the New Year. Five have done it more than once too!


Digital Spy forums have picked up on this (from here) and someone's also posted that ITV News will be getting a tweak too!

Can't see them changing the titles AGAIN - perhaps it's the long awaited switch to widescreen! (or perhaps not!)

Cant see ITV news changing, they only changed in January!

Sorry Walshy. I wanted to believe you but I did feel it was too good to be true. But I am excited now.

A 'tweak' would suggest minor changes, maybe to the titles. I wouldn't be surprised tbh. The current titles are naff, with people walking across the clock face. Ugh.

It's not going to happen...face it, the members of TV Forum usually hype up the arrival of new idents/presentation packages a good 6 months or so before they come on air! And usually, a "Sticky" thread is created also so we can mourn the passing of idents and talk about the new ones etc etc.

Now this rumour only started yesterday afternoon at 4.22pm when this thread first started.

Now that isn't much of a build up is now???

I may be wrong and we will have some all new ITV1 idents tomorrow (which are desperately needed), but if this happens, then where have we all gone wrong??? Why didn't this information come to light a good few weeks ago? Why has it all been shroud in secrecy? Why hasn't there been a press launch?

Obviously, us TV Forumers are losing our touch?

Read back a few pages.. and most of your questions will be answered.

A lot of people have come out, backed up what others have said, and seem pretty confident that it's happening. Why would they say that if they were lying? This is a 'refresh' not a 'rebrand', meaning the current logo is staying but the idents will change. I don't think it warrants a press release beforehand because as many have said, it's not uncommon for channels to 'refresh' their look. Five has done it, as did Channel 4.

As has already been said, ITV may not wish to make a big deal about them ditching the current set as it would be seen as an admission of them getting it wrong.

And to be fair, it was mentioned a good few weeks back about ITV1 getting new idents. I'm quite confident it will happen actually, the descriptions sound pretty convincing.

Fair enough - we shall see!!! I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just saying we all seem to be sounding a little bit too optimistic. But everyone seems to be fairly confident about this, so I say ROLL ON TOMORROW!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!
