So... your telling me, they fork out a huge amount for buzzy bizzy bee to rebrand itv... and create idents etc etc... and then.. a few months after launch... they ditch the idents... and use a different agency, but... keep all of this quiet, no press release, nothing the the media (eg , brand republic, MG, etc etc).
What's the point in ITV changing again? All that will achieve is a further erosion in brand recognition.
So add some new ones! Four years ago there were close to 100 to choose from, now we have just eight with some appearing more often than others. How about:
"Anger" - person throws TV set bearing ITV logo out of window...

Yes.
I agree that it does seem strange that there has been no publicity.

How many did you say there were? Do you know why the old ones were scrapped (obviously, we know its because they suck, but ITV usually are very slow to pick up on things). What is the music like on the new ones - totally random or following a vaguely consistant style a la BBC One?
Does the ITV1 logo animate on at all?
Lots of questions, but hey, I'm sure people are interested like me.

There are 5 in total.
I think ITV management could see how poor the current set are.
Dont know about the music as I saw them without audio.
Don't think the ITV1 logo animates, but I'm not 100%
I hope you understand I'm very sceptical about this Walshy, but if it's true, it does sound like an improvement. I hope you're not lying because I've become quite excited now.
Although if this means the current batch is going I'll be upset. Don't get me wrong, I hate them all - except one. The one they used before Afterlife tonight, it's very sombre and absolutely beautiful. The only that does what ITV wanted them to do, for me at least - evoke emotion.
Why would there be press releases and publicity for a new set idents? It's not like it's a whole new rebrand (by the sounds of it). The BBC might want to do it - we pay for them after all and it ushered in a radical on-screen change. But I think most people aren't that interested.
It's highly likely that this claim of new idents is true. I wouldn't be surprised if ITV is trying to bring in new idents slowly but surely as the last high profile launch was a bit of a disaster. The new idents were instantly given a frosty reception so if these aren't very good it won't matter so much! Also, I wonder if we'll now get a specific news ident. The latest set doesn't have one but the last few have had CG idents for the news, which have always looked quite good.
