Channel 4 News successfully uses purple/blue as it's main colour without impacting on C4's identity.

But C4 doesn't really have a specific colour identified with it, unless you count white, which is only used as a background rather than as the dominant colour. So IMO this makes it easier for C4 News to use blue and purple than it does for ITV News to use blue.

I agree, teal was better here then blue.

I'm even talking myself out of my own point of view now (I must stop talking to myself when on here). I just happened to like the teal colour scheme. Laughing Laughing

I know C4 doesn't have a singularly identifiable colour, but their other channels do, and you would think that purple was a bad choice for C4 News as it would identify more with E4 (entertainment, fun etc) rather than serious programmes. It didn't stop them asking ITN to choose that colour though as their news branding.

ITV News had teal, and I thought that was gaining recognition. 10 months later they go tinkering with it. Slapping blue & yellow back in the news mix is bad thinking IMO Rolling Eyes

C4 does have a singularly identifiable colour - white. You might not instantly think it but the white used on programme promotions and captions is quite striking and this has been carried over to Channel 4 news.

Actually when you think about it Channel 4 News uses white, purple and green (more4) so it's actually a very good mix for them.

Just found this

Which would suggest that the yellow and black straps are nothing to do with ITV1's new idents as this colour scheme has always been available as part of the January 06 look

It was obviously there for breaking news, but as ITV News don't have much use for a breaking news graphic they've decided to use it as a graphic in the headlines

No way, the teal was terrible. Didn't suit ITV News at all.

I liked the teal. The blue looks good during the day, but at night it is Garrish, and clashes. I found the teal backdrop belivable, but the New one seems very CGI. The only good thing is the frosted glass effect going away.

I liked teal better to be honest, unless they can be a bit creative and change them for different news broadcasts.

Im confused about why anyone could prefer the old sickly green studio! The colour scheme was all wrong and just looked bland. The new colour scheme for the studio is by far the best they've had. It's a striking blue colour that highlights things like the skyline in the distance and the big ben dials around the news wall. My friend, who isn't a TV anorak, even mentioned it saying 'oh they have a skyline in the background now' which would suggest that he hadn't even noticed it before in the old bland set.

I like the new look. I always found the teal to be an improvement on the preceeding blue, so was dubious when I first heard/read about the new move towards blue again.

But, the new blue isn't such a bold/striking shade of blue as the pre-teal era, and therefore a lot easier on the eye. It's also nice that's it's got those gold accents in it, to warm it up a bit. Having a secondary colour is so much better than the overkill of just one colour everywhere. And the "clock numerals" at the base of the backdrop are a lot clearer now.

All very nice. Cool

Sorry Seamus, but how the hell would you know when you live in the US?

I just have to know.

You'd be surprised at the people who think the atrium is really behind the newsreader.
