Oh and the changes to ITV News? Slap dash and unnecessary - the teal looked great.

It may just be me but watching the Evening News tonight I could swear they've tinted the titles blue. Yesterday they were more teal and looked out of place amongst the studio tweaks. Maybe I'm dreaming that.

I totally agree Asa. A minor refresh but keeping the same teal colour scheme would've been fine. Now they have a mixture of blue/yellow/teal all cobbled together in a very haphazard way which is both inconsistent and disorganised.

They are useing the same music on all the idents and oneday this is going to be very boring, i also like the old music from the tooth, toast one

So, we've gone from

to

Definately a step in the wrong direction. The teal looked original and professional - the blue sinks in with all the other news programmes.

If ITV had any sense (and actually had people watching forums like this) they would put ITV News back to the way it was last week Rolling Eyes

Not everyone is agreeing with your view you know, loads of people have said the blue is better

They probably are reading this forum, back last January when loads of people said they didn't like the green and wanted the blue back Rolling Eyes

I know that everyone doesn't agree with me, but blue is boring. Teal was something different for a news channel and actually made ITV News look unique compared with BBC/Sky/Fox/CNN etc.

By mistake they'd done something right for once, and have now gone back to the boring blue/yellow...............but with a remenant of teal thrown in to make it look like a half-hearted refresh Shocked

count me as one of those who preferred it before. They have gone from a fairly realistic backdrop to one which resembles something seen in a cartoon rather than a news bulletin.

if anything though, at least it shows how flexible and easily changeable their studio is.

Rather nice i think, not to keen on the news background to be honest, it looks rather dated, can itv just not leave the blue and yellow thing in the past! Anyways regarding the idents all i can say is they leave a lot more to work with for christmas, infact if itvs offering at christmas is in a similar style to to these thre could be some nice ones!

IMO, ITV News now has too many colours - making it just look a mess. With blue, teal, yellow, black and white all they need is red and they'll have all the colours of the rainbow! Laughing

But that's the whole point, its' not even a half-hearted refresh as it was done without any sort of fuss.

If they'd announced a new look and this was it then I could understand the points, but a small change of a few bits and then people saying why they haven't done a complete relaunch only 10 months after the last one is strange

Regarding the colours, they've only added blue. There is a flash of yellow in the opening titles already

But there was no need to add yellow into the astons/titles for the news. I think yellow was accepted as the colour for ITV1. They have simply confused the issue now by harping back to the blue/yellow mistake.

I do appreciate that "More 4 News" uses a green theme on their set to emphasise the channel identity, but it's a relatively new channel and is trying to make an impact with it's brand.

Channel 4 News successfully uses purple/blue as it's main colour without impacting on C4's identity.

There was no need to drag yellow & blue back into the ITV News idents or the set Shocked

EDIT:
I was using More4 & C4 as examples - I know they have nothing to do with ITV, I was simply explaining that ITN can do things right when given the correct brief by clients
