Just noticed, why have the headline straps in the ITV News 10:30 become yellow and the backdrop has turned to blue again??
Was it like this on the 6:30 version?
Well after a days worth of viewing. I'm very impressed by the refresh.
The idents are great, I'm still not liking the ITV in black. I think that they should have just made the logo more of a golden colour, and possibly dropped a shadow around the itv letters. I do like the lighting effects on the logo though.
I do think that they should have done something to the menu/trailers, even if it were to re organise them somehow.
The only major downfall for me is the news. As has been said, I loved the change to teal, it made it feel less cold, made it take it's own identity.
As I said earlier, I think that the yellow is ok as it follows the channel that it shows on, but I don't like the blue, it's a step in the wrong direction in my opinion.
I have to say I quite like these. And I must be one of the few who actually think the ITV wording looks much better in black. The music is much better too. One thing I will say is that it's a shame that the idents were actually filmed in the UK.
I also think it's about time ITV Wales got its own "national" idents.
Makes you wonder whether the refresh was brought forward to get shot of the old ones ASAP. I'm certainly glad I'll never see that toothy freckled kid again!
Improvement? Definitely. Earth shatteringly brilliant? Hardly. There certainly seems to be more effort in terms of production as opposed to stringing a load of tenuous clips together though and the Bike one is really well shot.
Although playing around with the logo it's a step in the right direction, I still think if they are desperate to do live action idents, the logo should have more interaction with its surroundings - maybe not a cardboard ITV1 logo being passed around but something more.
Red Bee Press Release posted:
The ITV 1 logo opens out at the start of each ident to encapsulate the emotion in each scene and demonstrate that ITV 1 brings you all these emotions in its programming
It's always nice to revisit those kind of press releases after seeing it dumped after only 10 months. I doubt anyone - subconsciously or otherwise - would have worked out what the theme behind those ones were.
Has anyone seen them go over 15secs? The boat one momentarily froze before the programme which seems to suggest they've been made very short. Also, maybe trails produced from Monday on-wards will have the black logo - no real point creating two versions for the sake of a colour.
Oh and the changes to ITV News? Slap dash and unnecessary - the teal looked great.
