you didnt say where you were when you got the leaflet, but what I said is still true, London Local elections happen after the rest of the country, and so, Labour would be trying to canvas people.

This southern attitude I fear is in your 'ed sorry head Embarassed

*GASP* I didn't get the leaflet - how dare you accuse me of supporting Labour Evil or Very Mad . No it came with a Labour magazine (my mam gets them free with her Labour membership Mad ).

Well if my memory of Adam is correct - and it's the right Adam I'm thinking of - he has rather a way to go before he's allowed near a polling station!

Don't forget that the Northern Region's also have referenda in 2004 on Regional Government. Wonder if we will get a live special , "Vote 2004, The North East Decides"

Neither - I'll be voting for the Official Monster Raving Loony Party if a candidate stands in my constituency...

Well the ballot for Yorkshire Regional Assembly is being done solely by post so there won't be elections flying in.... they'll either make it a nice announcement playing it up if we say yes like they want or slip it out if it's no...

Indeed - I'm 14. I'd vote Lib Dem if I could though.

Dragging this thread back to the topic!

Before the 1997 election, the BBC broadcast a programme called 'Swing Time' which looked at TV pres of general election nights down t' years.
Right at the end there was some footage of the rehearsals of that years BBC election night studio coverage(done during the daytime).

ITN also did daytime rehersals, using the results from the local elections from 1996.

The date on the clearly visable on the 'snowscreen' (Peter's bit of the studio) was Election 96, however this was 1997! So I'm guessing that rehearsals are done 6-12 months in advance, and anyway the massive work the computer graphics/results engines have to do on the night means work must start almost on the day after the last general election.

I'm sure Nicky will be able to tell us how advcanced the plans for Election 2005 are at the beeb!

I'm almost positive that by time you get a chance to vote, the Lib Dems will still not be any closer to power than they have been for the past 18 years... Razz

I think you'll find they're doing better than a few years ago.

Given the choice, I think any student with any sense would be voting that way. Then again most will probably think they have no chance and won't bother.

If all the people who don't bother to vote because they don't think it'll make any difference actually went and did vote, it probably would.

A parliamentary candidate told me the other day that the election will be between Late Spring 2005 and Late Spring 2006.

Unless Tony goes mad, or something changes drastically, it will generally always be between 4 and 5 years after the previous election (May 2001).
