Ah, was wondering what they were doing there when I was walking past the other night. They weren't in the front, they were inside the doughnut in front of the Helios statue.

To be honest what's left looks a lot better than it did when the BBC owned it. I know it's not what it was but they've done a nice job of it and all the old tatty bits have gone

When the BBC owned it, it was not filled with apartments and shops, which is why it looks much better now, compared to say in 2011.
The centre was notorious for being difficult to navigate. I certainly got lost in there on a few occasions. I remember trying to navigate from Studio TC3 to TC8 and got lost in a maze of corridors. Had to ask a security guard who was outside Studio TC6 how to get to TC8, thankfully he guided me there.
I never got the 'difficult to navigate' thing, I never had a problem in it. I only worked there for a few years and didn't go back for about 10 by which time it was closed... and could still find my way round.
That said, outside of the round bit it was a mish mash of corridors

My proudest moment was driving my car into TC3 to pick up an auction item I'd won. Tek Waveform Monitor. I actually use it in anger still to set up Black and Burst reference levels, seeing as very few installations have any analogue measuring kit in them these days
I much prefer it now!
For those of use who didn't work at the centre but never passed the opportunity to go to Wood Lane and gaze though the gates, it's great that you can now (or will, in a couple of months time) just walk in to the complex grounds and be non people spotting in the overpriced cafe, next to the old stage door entrance without having a tour or audience recording ticket.
