I hope they explain how dangerous it is near crossings; I'd like to see some humour, but with a serious message.

Exactly, the world doesn't stop because of an incident. If anything it'll show people not to t*at around on the railways

Did anyone catch the announcement into the programme? I missed it by a few seconds - they started the programme early!

"... First, Top Gear, which tonight features an item that graphically illustrates the dangers of level crossings". Quite a neutral message really, in no way apologising for highlighting the piece, but at the same time not mentioning why.

A very serious message at the end of the piece too. I'll ensure I wear mine in the future.

The (very short) announcement would have started at about 20:00:03, the programme actually got going at 20:00:10, I think.

That's unless any of our friends in presentation want to be even more accurate.
