I can't imagine the BBC would consider this. The ratings for this series will be through the roof.

Steer clear of these petition sites - they are utterly worthless.

They've postponed the new series but there's been no mention of it being axed from the BBC. Only right to postpone it especially as they'll now be way behind with production.

I very much doubt they would, and if they did there's a line of tv companies queuing up to take it on

Online petitions are a waste of time

This 'rumour' was started by attention seeking morons on DS, as if anyone was wondering Laughing

The executive producer has said that he won't make the programme without Richard Hammond - but at the moment there's no reason to think he won't come back when he's better.

Ah my mistake, I hadn't read much into the threads over there and as soon as I saw a petition link I natually assumed it was rubbish. Would have expected to see more news articles mentioning it if it had any feasability to it.

Postponed only until Hammond recovers from what I have heard, which will probably be six months according to the 6 o'clock news.

so top gear should be back on in March, that's hardly axed is it Rolling Eyes

No body assumed the Paul O'Grady Show was being axed after he became ill

Maybe because his illness had nothing to do with the show?

Hammond's recovery could be anything UP TO six months, so it might be before then...but yes the Spring season seems like a good idea - before then we may see some more "Best of Top Gear" - perhaps half-hour filler shows featuring segments such as:

- Caravanning
- Bugatti Veyron v Plane
- Build A Waterproof Car
- Buy A Sports Car for less than £1000

Personally I'd love to see the Bugatti Veyron driving from Italy to London again, or Hamster getting his Pagani Zonda stuck in the exit of a French car park...or even clips from earlier series that are now way back in the memory banks

I'd rather just see the new material... Rolling Eyes
