That would be the death of BBC2 for me. They have had so many brilliant shows nicked from them (The Apprentice, Have I Got News For You, Who Do You Think You Are to name just a few).

I can not see the point of it to be honest. Surely the same amount of viewers will tune in whether it is on ONE or TWO-what difference does it make?

Wouldn't the BBC be better off spreading programmes between BBC1 and 2 to have two strong channels rather than one?

Moving TG to BBC1 would IMO be the death of BBC2, and that's been said before (sorry to whoever I subconsciously stole that line from). And as for the US version, a cut-down and re-edited version of TG already goes out on BBC World.

It'sa ok Wink

Hmm, the idea for an American Top Gear does seem to be a strange one; particularly, as mentioned, there are UK editions already broadcast on BBC World.

And I can't imagine Clarkson embracing the American people!

What they would probably do is do a spin off of TG .

On Channel 4 their is a programme called Scrapheap Challenge. C4 decided to flog the idea to the American, States United land and they came up with Junkyard Wars, which is the exact same format but the presenters have changed.

I hope this doesn't happen but if it did i think they would have to change the presenters for it. Also it might be quite good, becuase while TG is off air in the UK. They could show the unseen American version here, and then we could all complain on here on how bad it is! Laughing

All three of the presenters will be fronting the US version according to the report, I just don't see it working, Americans have no sense of humour and the moment they try a stunt like setting a caravan on fire, they will be hounded out the country

We all know that Jezza never thinks about what he is going to say before he speaks. I could just imagine him saying something really offensive and being attacked. That would be funny! Laughing

However, the programme could work but i think they would have to loose some of the comedy because it's in Americ, and the BBC wouldn't want to offend. BTW Will it be broadcast in this country?

Who gives a toss if we offend Americans, they've offend us loads of times in the past (electing George W Bush as President, "sitcom" Dharma & Greg, etc.).

I say definately keep the comedy element to it otherwise why bother.

Yes i couldn't care less, but the BBC would not like the resonsibility of him offending the yanks because that would be quite a bid of bad publicity i feel. I would hate for it to loose some of the comedy, but if the BBC don't want any bad publicity, i think it might have to. Sad

Clarkson, May and Hammond have already offended the yanks by driving through the bible belt with pro homosexual slogans on their cars

my strange friend thinks Richard Hammond looks like David Tenant, she actually thought Hammond was the new Dr Who Laughing
