I notice on the BBC News website (Entertainment section) there are currently talks going on with the BBC to produce & American version of Top Gear. Sounds interesting but will the Americans be able to understand Clarkson's humour? Still it has won an Emmy i suppose! Also i note there is a repeat of Top Gear tonight at 01:35 on BBC One! Now i know i don't like starting rumours like anyone else but could we potentially see this as an indication that the next series of TG may well move to BBC One? Ok seems a bit far fetched to make an assumption on this basis but given the status of the program now and the fact it was getting up to 8 million viewers in the last series. Im only basing this on previous moves within the BBC i.e. The Apprentice went BBC Two --->BBC One and Little Britain went BBC Three --->BBC One because they were popular programs. I've never known TG to be repeated on BBC One before, maybe someone can correct me.

Moving TG to BBC1 would IMO be the death of BBC2, and that's been said before (sorry to whoever I subconsciously stole that line from). And as for the US version, a cut-down and re-edited version of TG already goes out on BBC World.

it does indeed go out on BBC World and many other channels globally. It would be interesting to see if they ever showed it on UK television though if they do make an American series.

Well judging by Clarkson's last great DVD (The Good, The Bad & The Ugly) he'll completely slate every American car they test drive, plus those rednecks are probably still after him Laughing

I still don't get why the BBC MUST move all of their top rated programmes on BBC 2 & 3 onto BBC 1. I can understand them moving them from BBC 3 but why BBC 2, it's not as if people have difficulty picking up BBC 2

The question we ask every time "little Timmy" does moderately well at Wimbledon and the regional news gets buggered up.

That would be the death of BBC2 for me. They have had so many brilliant shows nicked from them (The Apprentice, Have I Got News For You, Who Do You Think You Are to name just a few).

I can not see the point of it to be honest. Surely the same amount of viewers will tune in whether it is on ONE or TWO-what difference does it make?

Wouldn't the BBC be better off spreading programmes between BBC1 and 2 to have two strong channels rather than one?

It'sa ok Wink

Hmm, the idea for an American Top Gear does seem to be a strange one; particularly, as mentioned, there are UK editions already broadcast on BBC World.

And I can't imagine Clarkson embracing the American people!

Apart from the high powered vehicles which are vitrually the same around the world, the US do have different cars and vehicles to Europe, even the major manufacturers make many more different models (with different names!!!) for the US market - so much much more choice for Clarkson and crewe to take the mickey out of!!!!!!

Sorry to squash a good conspiracy theory, but isn't that part of the sign zone?

Nope, subtitled but not signed as there is no [SL] symbol next to the synopsis.

Carriage for BBC World in the US is very limited, in fact IIRC it only started being available last year.

They did make an American version with specially shot studio segments, think it was shown on Discovery

I hope it doesn't get moved to BBC One, when you think of Top Gear, the next thought is 8pm BBC Two lol.
I like the idea of Top Gear USA, but the problem could be certain parts of America which, as they boys proved, have had a sense of humour bypass.
I can just see Clarkson slagging something off and getting death threats!!

I forgot about the sign zone. That explains that.
