Did anyone see Clarkson's column in The Sun in which he said the show won't be coming back? Would be nice if the quote was put in context so we knew his reasons for saying it. Can't find anything about it on The Sun website.

The Sun have context?
I find it very difficult to believe that the programme would be cancelled, massive ratings and international income for the BBC, and a highly pleasurable job working on the programme. The only problem with it being back "in the summer" is one of timing, and (i'd guess) depends on how much Richard can do and how soon.
From what I can make out the BBC has said Top Gear will return "in the summer", Jeremy Clarkson has said it won't - and the BBC have clarified it'll be a "special" in the summer and then return in the Autumn.
So it's all been taken out of context and basically all Jeremy Clarkson meant was the next series will be in the Autumn, not the summer.

Just to clear any remaining confusion for certain:
Quote:
Jeremy Clarkson has admitted Top Gear will return - just a week after apparently claiming it would not.
The presenter caused confusion last Sunday when he wrote in his newspaper column that there would "not be a new series".
The BBC rebutted the claim and now, speaking to the Sunday Mirror, for which he writes, he conceded the show would return in the same form.
"Everyone seems to think the programme is finished or that I've left," he joked. "Well, sorry to disappoint you all but it isn't and I haven't. Top Gear... will be back in the autumn."

I notice on the BBC News website (Entertainment section) there are currently talks going on with the BBC to produce & American version of Top Gear. Sounds interesting but will the Americans be able to understand Clarkson's humour? Still it has won an Emmy i suppose! Also i note there is a repeat of Top Gear tonight at 01:35 on BBC One! Now i know i don't like starting rumours like anyone else but could we potentially see this as an indication that the next series of TG may well move to BBC One? Ok seems a bit far fetched to make an assumption on this basis but given the status of the program now and the fact it was getting up to 8 million viewers in the last series. Im only basing this on previous moves within the BBC i.e. The Apprentice went BBC Two --->BBC One and Little Britain went BBC Three --->BBC One because they were popular programs. I've never known TG to be repeated on BBC One before, maybe someone can correct me.

Moving
TG
to BBC1 would IMO be the death of BBC2, and that's been said before (sorry to whoever I subconsciously stole that line from). And as for the US version, a cut-down and re-edited version of
TG
already goes out on BBC World.

I still don't get why the BBC MUST move all of their top rated programmes on BBC 2 & 3 onto BBC 1. I can understand them moving them from BBC 3 but why BBC 2, it's not as if people have difficulty picking up BBC 2
