I understand it was refrigerant rather than fuel gas that leaked - though I may have been misinformed.

If it was bad wouldn't control be thrown to DR, because Red Bee is just over a road to the north.

It would be a heck of a gas leak to affect Red Bee's Broadcast Centre too, it's past some houses and an open area and behind an office block... further than you think

I am aware of the distance, but we had a gas leak in 2003 that required all roads within 1 mile to be evacuated.

Credit to BBC One for getting the announcer to do a quick announcement regarding the loss of Newsround over the ident - first proper intro on CBBC on BBC1 for years I expect! Smile

What aired at 5pm instead of Newsround?

Sam and Mark's Guide To Dodging Disaster Short.

Their 'Emergency Standby' VT is a programme called 'Dodging Disaster'? If programmes were taken off air over something more serious, I'd question how appropriate that is.

Surprised they haven't edited that programme down that used to be on Saturday teatimes? The one that had the celeb voiceovers over the wildlife footage! (Name escapes me)

They could've used that.

Apparently the BBC Sport Website's live text coverage of the football transfer deadline was taken over by somebody in Birmingham while TVC was being evacuated, in an amusing hark back to the days of Pebble Mill being able to look after the network if TVC was having problems.

Yeah, but the reason they used Dodging Disaster was because it was only 10 minutes long.

What would've kept 1 on air (I think) - AKA - VT E.
