I'm glad they are bringing back some old gameshows for a one off stint in September.

But i know it's just going to be a farce. Especially with Ant and Dec hosting. I just KNOW that when they do Blockbusters, it's not going to be serious at all, it's just going to be a piss take of the show. We all KNOW that the "I'll have a P please bob" joke will be in there. I never really got that. Fans of the show are fed up of hearing that joke, and people who haven't heard of the show won't have a clue what they're goin on about.

As with things like Bullseye too, they will no doubt push the clichés of the show rather than showing off just how good the shows were.

Who else agrees?

You raise an interesting point there Stabby, we all know it's not going to be the same as the original versions, ie they may take the mick out of it. Or say on Blockbusters they'll constantly go mad when people say "Can I have a P please?"

It'll be interesting to see how they will do these gameshows and what prizes there will be on offer.

I just hope ITV don't get the same team who are doing Dick and Dom's Ask The Family.

Incidently, I found an old trailer for that on the web a few years ago. Can't find it now though. Went along the lines of: "There's a new word game coming to BBC Television <Bee-Bee-Beep>..."

I used to love the old ITV quizzes. One daytime classic, which was axed dispite its success, was Supermarket Sweep. One of Carlton's big hits and they scrapped it as they thought it was a little downmarket!

God if they only knew what was around the corner!

Cheap quizzes worked on ITV and some of the old formats should return as they were the staple part of the channel.

I'm also glad that ITV have pinned Bullseye tp make a one-off comeback in September. It was as said by Peter Kay, it were shiit yet it were good. It didn't require much, just a dartboard and a Speeboat. Jim Bowen was fantastic, patronising and near-racist*, but it had something

**There was an episode from 1984 on Challenge TV where he picked on the black man in the audience and asked how far he travelled tonight!

I just hope that they bring back the old "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin 1".

They also need **** prizes, I dunno.... like a VHS Video Cassette Recorder ...with LONG PLAY!

Definately! When I spotted the thread I was going to add it - and you got there first! It must be possible to do an updated version.

I just wish I could get that "springy clock" music bed for the first round from somewhere!

I'd also like to see Treasure Hunt done properly again - in the UK and on once a week at around 8 or 7pm - not like Jane Roots botched effort to bring it back a couple of years back.

A betavideo would be better!

I dunno whether any of you remember these, I was just a winkie when some of them were on... Four Square hosted by John Sachs, First Class which was a school quiz show hosted by Debbie Greenwood i believe, I would also like to see the original Beat the Teacher with Howard Stapleford. Some of the quizzes used to keep me enthralled at the time. I loved them.

And on the subject of quiz shows, has anyone seen what Dick and Dom (Or as I call them Suck and Bomb) have done to Ask the Family??? Robert Robinson would have a fit if he saw what those 2 psychotic headcases have done to his nice clean family quizshow...Its an apoplectic lump of poo that needs flushing away. God knows what planet those 2 come from, but it sure ain't the same on as me...!

I auditioned for that show and went to see a few of the episodes being taped at BBC Scotland.

Debbie Greenwood (married to Paul Coia) used to deliver her pieces to camera through the "eye" in the logo which was a hole cut into the set. As such she had no autocue, so the taping took quite a long time as she struggled to get it right.

Nice girl, though. Wasn't she "Miss United Kingdom" at some point?
