FX announces launch schedule
10:51 GMT, Friday 14th November 2003 -- by Neil Wilkes
FX UK will launch January 12th on Sky channel 286, it has been confirmed.

Provisional schedules for the new 24-hour entertainment station put sci-fi series The X Files at the heart of its lineup, airing each night at 8pm.

Another key FOX series, Cops will go out weekdays between 7pm and 8pm, with a two-hour block on Saturdays from 6pm. NYPD Blue will air in the 9pm slot each weekday, while movies will feature on weekends.

The 10pm slot is comprised mainly of new series to the UK such as Penn and Teller: ****, The Man Show and Mind of the Married Man.

The daytime schedule has yet to be released.

Does anyone else think that FX are onto a bit of a loser being stuck on channel 286 with the likes of You TV and Friendly? When searching for something to watch on the EPG, I never venture that way as the channels are rubbish once you get passed ITV2 and I am sure other people are the same.

You'd think with Sky and FX having the same parent company, Sky would give FX a prime position. on the EPG, Or is it too much compition for Sky One?

Well, once businesses get to a certain size, sharing parents becomes less and less significant.
Take for example the case of Fox News Channel almost sueing The Simpsons for mocking its news ticker - despite the fact they are owned by the same people.

Isn't The Simpsons made by Gracy Films, and only screened by FOX?

It's rights are all owned by FOX, giving it more prominence than it's actual 'creators'.
eg. that stuff about the cast not being able to use their 'voices' in interviews is completely true since it is 'owned' by FOX.

Anyone know if it'll be subscription, or freeview, and if it'll be appearing on ntl: anytime soon?

'FOX' and 'free' are rarely in the same sentence. Very Happy

Knowing NTL we'll probably get it a few months after Sky, as it goes that way. But I'll assume it'll be a channel which will be in the Family Pack if it does appear on NTL. But to be honest I don't believe you would be missing anything, as all of Fox's best shows are on the Beeb, Sky or Channel 4/E4.

Excpet Family Guy which is now rarely aired.

Indeed - Family Guy is 100x the genius The Simpsons will ever be, and I URGE anyone who enjoys this to make sure you buy all 3 seasons on DVD. For someone who is relatively hard to actually be made to laugh (as opposed to out of effect) Family Guy goes straight to pant pissing stage Very Happy
