Places like America don't seem to worry about the watershed. I've seen films on TV during the day when I've been over there where f-bombs were dropped and not edited out.

Which channel was that though? I presume it was one of the premium film channels (HBO, Showtime, AMC etc.), as I'm pretty sure the FCC would do their nut if that word went out on one of the main networks, even late at night! Remember how nuts they went over Janet Jackson's nipplegate!

In theory things could get looser on the OTA networks past 10PM but the problem is the 10PM shows in the east air at 9PM in the Central and Mountain time and finally 10PM in the west. I think programs in Hawaii air at 9PM as well. Also networks most likely would like censor themselves because advertisers may not want to purchase ads on a show that has a reputation for cursing or explicit sex acts. There was Supreme Court ruling about four or five years ago which stated fleeting expletives in a live program would be permitable in as long as it doesn't refer to a specific act (having sex or having a bowel movement).

The FCC redid their website and put out a dumbed down version of watershed guidelines the previous version was much more technical.

Charlie Brooker explained in his excellent Screenwipe USA that cable channels don't have to follow the FCC's regulations, whereas on terrestrial networks like NBC and CBS, I've seen late night shows like Craig Ferguson get censored and that was on the air well after midnight.

…really? Even though >800 people complained about a show going out before the watershed just a few months ago?

In Australia they've just effectively bought their watershed forward an hour to as early as 7.30pm, but then the regulator has sid they will prioritise complaints about content in that hour so wouldn't be surprised if it moves back.

Sure about that? Was it Cable TV? OTA Broadcast networks would be fined by the FCC (NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, The CW etc...)

Probably wishing there was no watershed so they can sit and snigger like Beavis and Butthead every time a bad word is said.

(and if they have to ask who Beavis and Butthead are, then it proves that they're a kid Razz )

I have a feeling it was a cable film channel.

I'm sure even our minor cable film channels have the bleepers ready on films during the day.
