I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult for them to persuade the powers that be; you've obviously never been to Hull and don't know what an absolutely dire city it is and how few people live in the East Yorkshire/Lincolnshire region (served by the Belmont transmitter)! I'd say only about 20% of the 5.7 million people who live in the BBC North region as a whole live in that area; therefore it's going to be a bit of a backwards career move for her! They must have promised her something more lucrative in the medium term; otherwise she'd have left the BBC altogether. I think Clare would be good on Breakfast; she could take up Sophie's place (her immediate predecessor at Look North) when Sophie moves onto the 1 or the 6 and Huw and Fiona move onto the 10!

I reckon we'll see Ian White, Tom Ingall or Penny Bustin taking over in Hull a couple of years from now.

Out of the three of those, I think that Penny Bustin would be best as the No.1 presenter, and Tom Ingall as her back-up.

What's going to happen in Leeds when my part of the region cuts to Clare for the opt-out? Will Ian do the Leeds opt-out part or will it be more Harry and Christa?

When Hull opt-out Christa and Harry will continue to the Emley Moor side of the region.

The 10.25pm bulletin will be split as well with Ian White continuing to present from Leeds and Helen Philpott presenting from Hull. Ian currently produces the Leeds bulletin and will in future produce both the Leeds and the Hull bulletins from Leeds!

Helen Philpott? Isn't the boss of BBC North called Colin Philpott, mmm?

I aspect the opt will work a bit like Calendar at 12.15pm used to..

Viewers of Emley Moor:
Mike or Christa: Now more of today's news in brief
(2 second obvious pause)
Today in Leeds, a man...

Viewers of Belmont at that point opted out, How did they used to opt back in, as there wasn't any 'thank you' or anything during the Emley Moor viewing of the bulletin

Helen Philpott is I think breakfast presenter on BBC Radio Lincolnshire at the moment... I'm sure it's just a coincidence Andrew! Smile

Where you currently get the 'Later on Look North' about 5 minutes in they will opt after the long tone...

The 10.25 bulletin will be two distinct bulletins...
