I'm just watching BBC Wales Today and Jamie Owen strikes me as the sort of person who would be well suited to national news, don't anyone argue that Wales is a nation... you know what I mean!
So who else are possible candidates for national news?

RACHEL HARRISON!!!!!! The Granada Tonight presenter who seems to have disappeared recently. Maybe ITN have poached her.....

Rachel has moved to the BBC and was last seen reporting on News 24.
Silly girl!

Has she??????!? Damn! She's far too good for the Beeb! Maybe we will see her presenting soon though. Perhaps the BBC saw one of my many recommendations of her here!

But if we think about it... one of the main presenters has to retire soon.
I recon Bob Friend is the oldest one on TV so he is probably off soon.
But I wonder who would replace him?
They would be one male presenter short, whoever it is he cannot be anywhere near as funny as Bob, who is, in my opinion, one of the best newsreaders of all time.
And I want Sheila Jansen back at Sky! I'm sure she's had her child now!

That Gordon Radley bloke Sky use for weekends and overnight is also very good and is wasted on certain shifts.

I know he already does national news on Channel 5, but I think that Martin Popplewell has a great future ahead of him. Also, 5 News' Jonas Hurst is quite good and would be well suited to Sky News. He can be funny in the mornings on 5 News at Brekkie.

Please god don't let Gavin Estler or Matthew Amsdbnjuebidfbal onto national news.

I can't stand either of them

Maybe they could do a ratings boost for news24 where they get chucked off the stairs.

but they wouldn't do that - WOULD THEY Huw?

SkyNews
Future Sky News presenters:

Frank Partridge or more likely Mark Longhurst will take over from Bob Friend.
Emily Maitlis has improved greatly as a newsreader in recent months

Jonathan Hunt will probably one day move back to the studio

Mark Longhurst is very good but I hate to say it... his accent just puts me off.
I hated Frank when I first saw him, I really thought he looked like a complete ****, leaning over all of the time, with that terrible smile.
But now I have watched him for a while I actually really like him! And he has been presenting on Sky for ages.
Emily is very good and I think she is the future Sunrise weekends presenter, Natasha Kaplinsky has also established herself well and in now one of their top presenters.

Tim Marshal perhaps? He was once a presenter, but much better suited to foreign affairs ed.

Amroliwala did do national news and still does, at weekends.
I find him annoying.
I don't mind Gavin Esler, I think he can be quite funny occasionally.

I think Linda McDermot (BBC Radio Merseyside) would make an excellent national news presenter, or as Gordon Burns co presenter.
I listen to her quite a lot and she has an excellent voice for news and was featured in Panorama the other week.

Ok, so imagine you are a young, keen eager journalist, trying to break into TV News. You've got 3 contracts in front of you, one from BBC News, one from ITN one from Sky, who do you sign for ?
