I was just wondering what your thoughts were on the future of comedy on ITV. Benidorm aired last night, and I must admit it had me laughing out loud at some points. The last comedy on ITV to do that was Barbara. However, I would love to see ITV do a comedy without a drama aspect as I thought it didn't gell well in Bendorm.
Is there any more news of future "sitcom" type comedy?
I watched that Bonkers with Liza Tarbuck last night, and thought it was OK in places, but the plot was a bit far-fetched. I can't see it lasting in the schedules. Missed Benidorm though - went down the pub instead (better than watching Johnny Vegas - who happens to be everywhere these days)
Did quite well too, 5.3m. Wasn't expecting that...
also very surprised it got more than Bonkers, which preceded it. When was the last time ITV won the 10pm slot?
God knows, anything that's started at 10 as opposed to going all the way through from 9 has been slaughtered recently as the 10 O'Clock News is does so well (and rightly so)
Very surprised that it did so well, especially since Bonkers didn't do very well before it. Will be interesting to see if it holds on to those ratings next week.
I enjoyed both Bonkers and Benidorm - I was amazed they were on ITV1 - I just hope they don't pull the plug halfway through the run if the viewing figures crash.
First time I've watched ITV1 for more than an hour in one go in many years.
There is a sit-com on ITV wow. How many sit-coms are on BBC in a week. I think ITV stills got a long way to bet BBC and BBC got a long way to bet some of the U.S.A networks
