There was a funny article today on Media Guardian about the ITV merger. I am sure people on here would disagree with him about local regions being pointless.
He's only talking about local news being pointless, as far as I gather. I'd disagree with that just as much as I'd disagree with someone arguing against regional TV though. I'd watch Midlands Today in preference to the national news any day of the week. Sheer quality.
Admittedly, that's the BBC, but you know what I mean.
Regional ITV is pointless. If you look at the quality and usefulness of many regional programmes, the federal structure of ITV, was/is a waste of money.
Even in the hayday of Central, Thames and LWT, what regional programmes were worth watching?
The way the BBC does is much more sensible (and cost effective), and you still get your regional news.
This day has been a long time coming, but hopefully it should bring about some coherance to ITV.
Some may remember a programme about John Farrell running as Labour candidate in the Tory hot spot, Maidenhead. He came third, with Theresa May (Tory) winning. But another boring fact is that he was brought up in the house next door to moi.
