Don't get me wrong, I am the last person to complain about smutty TV, indeed I am in favour of allowing R18 on Pay-TV channels and I hate the "disgusted of Tunbridge Wells" brigade, so I am shocked to find myself in agreement with them. I was babysitting a 9 year old boy as a favour. He got up Sunday morning before me and put on Sky. I was surprised to say the least at what I saw at 8:50am on Sunday morning on Friendly TV. It was a picture obviously frozen from the night before, of a girl with her jugs out and a rude text message. I know this channel is a comedy of errors, but surely someone could have switched the channel off before they went home?
It is a bit of a dilemma, because I am so-anti censorship. Complaining to the ITC goes against everything I stand for (freedom of choice, etc) But Friendly are a shambles. Like I said, how hard can it be to press a button to switch everything off?
I saw the frozen screen and you couldn't see the womans nipples, mainly to do with the position she was sitting in, and the heavily compressed (pixelly) quality of the webcam she was using.
Having said that, it's not the kind of thing you want young children to see first thing in the morning. Friendly should be reprimanded - I'm very anti-censorship, but there is a time and a place for everything.
Why DO so many satellite channels just leave their cameras, lights, cap gens, etc. running live all night, even when there's nobody there? Don't any of these channels even have a vision mixing desk?
Remember when Friendly TV used to have to point their camera (using the term singly here) at their TFT screen to leave a caption on air such a during a break?
The number of channels you now see where all night there's a picture of an empty set.
