Does Carlton Television operate every weekday until 5.15pm every Friday for legal formalities? (to this day)

If so, it does seem a bit strange if this is still the case to this day!

And may the next case be in pure English.

eh???

Carlton doesn't exist anymoe and London area is now covered by ITV London so the switch over is no longer applicable!!!!

Even I know that, and I live in The Netherlands nowadays and my old ITV region was Granada (now ITV1 Granada)

the regional areas still exist, there still 15 companies that operate although 12 of them under one name.

Strictly speaking, yes - ITV London as an entity doesn't exist as far as OFCOM's list of licensees is concerned. Technically, Carlton Communications broadcasts in the week, London Weekend Television at the weekend. (And for completeness, GMTV between 6.00 and -9.25 each morning)

The 5.15 handover became less and less significant, with Carlton and LWT both using the same transmission facilities - LNN based at LWT's Kent House facility - all that really happened was that a different Continuity Announcer took up residence in the same booth and differently branded pres was used. No reliance on BT to switch the circuit from Euston to the South Bank as in the old days.

in name only..... ITV plc is one company that holds 12 licences therefore the switch-over is completely not applicable anymore as it is going from one ITVplc licence to another ITVplc licence - NO CHANGE.

11 under one name (itv plc), 2 under another (stv) and 2 with individual names (Channel and UTV), isn't it?

Carlton still hold the licence for ITV in London during the week so they do still exist

I always thought there was a missed opportunity (especially in the latter days where changeover was for cosmetic purposes) that Carlton and LWT never made a merged ident where the LWT logo would animate out of the Carlton ident.

In name only, Carlton, as a company or even holding company no longer exits as it is now part of ITVplc. Officailly Granada plc still holds the licence for Channel 3 North West, but Granada plc no longer exists as it merged with Carlton to form ITVplc (Charles Allen's crumbling empire)

Border
Tyne Tees
Yorkshire
Granada
Central
Anglia
HTV (Wales and West)
Westcountry
Meridian
Carlton
LWT

The individual companies do still exsist. It's just that they are all owned by ITV PLC and trade under the ITV1 umbrella brand

Hence why at the end of Emmerdale you still get Yorkshire Television Limited 2006
