I watched Télématin Samedi, which is basically France 2's version of Breakfast. It appears unlike weekdays, the majority of the programme is pre-recorded, with live opts from the smaller news studio, along with weather from the same studio, with the forecaster sitting down reading a script over the graphics. The format is also much lighter, more like a lifestyle magazine akin to GMB than Breakfast is at weekends. They also have a feature on a Saturday of bloopers made during the show in the week!

The weekday edition utilises the main news studio for the half hourly updates, with weather coming from the Télématin studio.

Télématin unlike Breakfast also has newsreaders, one for top of the hour and the other for the bottom, along with a sign language reader, even on a Saturday.

When TV5 Monde, used to simil-cast the show on a Saturday, all non news output was pre-recorded, and the reporters/correspondents in the studio with William Leymergie were basically introducing the reports that they had presented once already during the weekday show.

There may have been one or two additional features specially recorded for Saturday, but it more or less a cost effective excuse to repeat stuff from the week, in case anyone had missed it.

Probably due to this reason, TV5 dropped it around this time last year.

It appeared to be specially pre-recorded for the Saturday edition this time round, William Leymergie even dressed casually for the segments. Even more annoying is when they do the weather, the map is in SD as the forecaster doesn't have access to the CSO in the main studio.

In March, Canal+ Group are rebranding their FTA channels.

i>TELE becomes CNews
D8 becomes C8
D17 becomes C17

This is to bring Canal+'s FTA channels branding wise closer to the group.

Retune ticker on France 2. Notice that it doesn't level up with the lower thirds.

The switchover is happening overnight in France. On Zattoo, NRJ12 is now in HD, while D8 and RMC Découverte are off air.

The other channels, France 3-5 and Ó, TMC and BFMTV are still in SD.

EDIT: 0220: France 3 is in HD. Bizarrely France 5 appears to be simulcasting France 4 on Zattoo. A look at Teleboy Switzerland shows 5 is still on-air, but I'm assuming they source their version from D-SAT.

(FYI Zattoo source TF1, M6 and W9 using the Swiss opts of those channels).
