More on the launch of BFM Lyon.

The channel will replace the current TLM (Télé Lyon Metropole) local tv channel which was acquired by BFMTV's owner last October on the 3rd September, the channel will have a studio in Lyon which will be controlled by a gallery at BFMTV in Paris. Like BFM Paris, they'll use VJ's to file copy which will be sent back to Paris for playout.

BFM Paris weather presenter Virgilia Hess who has also been promoted to be the early morning weather presenter during the 4h30-6h00 Premiére Edition on BFMTV will also forecast for BFM Lyon in addition to her duties on BFM Paris.

I've also been watching Franceinfo Soir , the new show that replaced Julien Benedetto's shift and it's a lot more analytical than before. Only the 23h bulletin to go to see how that is as good as Soir 3 or maybe not.

Here's the Franceinfo Soir Intro:

France 3 have added a news bulletin for the Outer-Mer which is on just before the 12/13 news block.

Indeed! The bulletin goes out at 11h35 on France 3, then at 12h40 on France Ō, then at 13h51 on Franceinfo - meaning it reaches three quite distinct audiences, reflecting France Télévisions (quite rightful) commitment to better integrating outre mer into their programming.

MyCanal, Canal's version of Sky Go have added the France 3 regional variants in 720p. (France 3 network feed is 1080p on Apple TV only).

Now while the mainland regions don't have as many opt-outs, France 3 Corse (Corsica) opts out a lot during the day, so viewers on the island are 'treated' to hours of local output branded as 'Via Stella' upscaled from SD.

Um, apparently CANAL (the pay-TV platform) was recently renamed Canal+ to match the TV channel

Jeez, Canal+ has way too many services with the same name as their channel...
Do you even read these?

It's a slightly messy state of affairs when your company has the same name as the main channel, therefore probably they should have left the "Canal" branding alone

Another strange thing is that Canal+ has its FTA channel (C8; akin to something like Pick), but still has the main Canal+ channel as a paying TV channel at channel 4 in virtually almost all platforms

I can't name many countries where among the first "terrestrial" operations you get a paying channel, albeit with FTA windows

I think this should be sorted out by letting C8 using the channel 4 LCN (therefore rebranding it to.. C4, maybe?), and letting (even by force, IMO) Canal+ take the channel 8 LCN

Could you imagine something like Sky One at LCN 4?
