France 2 stand-in (jockey) forecaster Virginie Hillsone, complete with the France 3 font name strap.

*

For comparison, the normal France 2 name strap.

*

I suspect Ms Hillsone used the France 3 font by accident. I think she's also covered on F3 Météo in the past, which may explain the error.

With France winning the World Cup, some channels have gone into special programming.

TF1's World Cup show has continued past the 20h hour, with the news presenter joining the sports presenters.
France 2 has an edition speciale, which is also being partially simulcast on Franceinfo with a pushback.
BFMTV and CNEWS are also in edition speciale mode with celebrations.
France 3 are showing the celebrations as part of their normal bulletins.
A special edition of JT 19.45 on M6.

How were the rights split in France - I can see that TF1, France Televisions and BeIn Sports shared the rights but not how they were split. I'm guessing based on other events TF1 probably had a premium package as that seems to be their strategy - concentrate on the high rating elements and let France Televisions do the rest.

It was TF1 and BeIN who had the rights to the World Cup in France, so TF1 didn't schedule all of the matches at least in the group stages. TF1 also showed their World Cup matches in 4K to some IPTV customers.

There was more special programming on TF1 and France 2 as the champions parade in Paris happened today. M6 also took some of the coverage from the Elysee during the 19.45 bulletin, but there were more important things such as the weather, ads and other shows to extend coverage.

What I will say is the French presenters and reporters on some of the channels didn't hide their patriotism towards the team. BFMTV's Weekend Edition presenters on Sunday morning were waving flags, while on France 2. there were reporters in football shirts and one with painted tricolours on her face.

I haven't checked French TV for a while, but does it still have the tendency to have announcers (especially women) with a somehow "dull" low-pitched voice, reading their script with no personality? Very Happy

ARTE was particularly bad at this

Looks like M6 are the last to go into Summer 'Jockey' mode. The regular presenters on the bulletins were still there until yesterday.

One of Direct 8's legacy programmes is Voyage au bout de la nuit. An overnight filler format where mainly female presenters read extracts from fiction books on a nightly basis.

Direct 8 edition.

C8 edition from 2017 with Claire Delorme, who is also a weather presenter for MéteoNews in Zurich.

As you'll see from the later edition, all it requires is a CSO, sofa and two fixed cameras and you have hours of cheap television filler.

And furthermore, it probably counts as "cultural television programme" so that it can fill the quotas. Laughing

Arte has a sort of tradition of having very… "calm" announcers. But I admit they sound blander since 2011, the year when they hired new announcers for the French version of the channel, replacing the iconic voice of Sylvie Caspar (nicknamed La Sirène for her very sweet, almost purr-like voice tone, as you can judge by checking the links below).

Those cute Marmot idents are back on France 3:

They're recreating famous film scenes.

Great to have the Marmots back. I wouldn't be surprised if they also make some new Christmas idents as well. I'll also miss the France 4 idents when that channel closes.

Same! Those are really adorable and memorable - this is exactly the sort of thing a certain BBC channel(s) should aim for.

This is slightly old, but someone's done a compilation of the France Télévisions rebrand, which explains a bit more about the different elements
