ITV is considering plans to use its new digital television slot to launch a children's television channel to rival CBeebies, the BBC's popular pre-school channel.

A dedicated channel would mark a strategic change for ITV, which has repeatedly said it had no plans to launch a channel in the highly competitive children's arena.

The plans are at a preliminary stage, but centre on the use of the Freeview slot bought from Crown Castle last month. Most analysts expect ITV to launch a channel for male viewers, who are underserved by its current programming.

Right, so far its been:
A Womens Channel
A Gambling Channel
A Sports Channel
A Male Channel
A Male/ Sports Channel

And just for good measure,
A Childrens channel.

It wouldn't surprise me to see this not launching at all....

Correction, it's now a PRE-School Childrens channel. which is not needed. They seriously need to get a channel for the 6-14 year old audiance and this "Cbeebies copy" is not going to work.

Oh yes, that was it Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I'm interested that E4+1 is being added, perhaps just a filler until More4? I would suggest an EPG refresh with all these new channels on the way.

4th May News

ITV4 is to launch as a shared channel, for kids during the day, in a possible tie up with Nickelodeon, and upmarket young men in the evenings.

That's the latest. Also, E4, E4+1 are launching late this Month on Freeview and More4 will launch on all platforms in October, bringing the Channel 4 count of channels on Freeview up to three.
