Freeview, the UK’s most-watched digital TV service, has undergone a major rebrand in preparation for a new product launch that will introduce a mass market connected TV offer. The Freeview logo and visual identity have been refreshed to reflect the platform’s evolving service and will be introduced across Freeview’s product portfolio and brand marketing.

The name for Freeview’s planned connected TV service has also been confirmed. Freeview Play, which is due to launch later this year will give viewers the freedom to choose the programmes they want, when they want. Freeview will roll-out the exciting new brand identity for launch.

Freeview Play combines catch-up TV (BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and 4oD*), on demand and live television. – all in one place on the TV set. Viewers will be able to search for programmes by either using the scroll back function in the TV guide or the apps page.

Great news for those of us with connected TV's who only get iPlayer and Demand 5, which is the case with my LG set.

Like just buying a YouView box, then?

Strange that the website is still using the old logo, considering the article says "has undergone a rebrand" and not "is to rebrand on X date".

all new Phil
The article also says that the brand is being rolled out at the launch of the new service.

I wonder if the next software update for Freeview certified TV's will change the Freeview logo on them to this new one on the TV Guide?

I wondered if the 'F' was an abstract rendering of a TV aerial but the article says otherwise.

That was my first thought when I saw it too.

I do love some of the garbage the marketing teams come out with the explain a new logo or font. Laughing

I like the new logo. I was never very keen on the current one after they changed the font in 2006. It just screamed 1980s to me. Shocked
