Freeview, Freesat, Sky, Virgin or Other?

I'm interested to know now how members receive their digital tv - which service they prefer and why? I'm considering moving from SKY to a 'free' service - not sure which is best Freeview or Freesat - I know Freesat has more channels but most of the additional channels look pretty poor to me.

Best pic quality - Freesat or Freeview?

I use Freeview. If you're a SD only viewer, Channel 5 I believe is 704x576 resolution compared to satellite where they cram in the C5 channels at 544x576 and apparently 5* and 5USA's bitrates are much worse on Sky and Freesat?

If I were you, I'd keep your Sky equipment attached (turning it in to a Freesat from Sky setup) and invest in a Freeview+ box.

C5 has to remain at 704x576 on DTT, because of an Ofcom directive that states ITV 1, C4 , and C5 must transmit at that minimum resolution.

However, there's no directive for minimum bit rate, so C5 on DTT often looks worse than on D-Sat.
