I've just done a re-scan, and the EPG has updated, but I am now missing a few channels, namely ABC1 and Five. Any ideas?

It'll be the weather. A rescan (or two) should get them back!

Had to rescan my Sagem, but the Daewoo Setpal did it all automatically. Shame they don't seem to make them anymore - I've not seen a better Freeview box yet!

ITV3 could have gone to Channel 8 perhaps, leaving Channel 10 for ITV 4. With ITV still out on a limb at Channel 30 shows little point in this shake-up.
Will ITV News and Men & Motors remain on Freeview now ITV 4 is allocated to 30?

Any indication what Mux ITV4 is coming from - if it's Mux 2 it'll use ITV News space, if it's Mux D it'll use Men and Motors. My guess is until the launch of CITV it'll time share with ITV News.

And yes - the revamp doesn't sort out any of the problems. I think More4+1 will eventually appear on 31, so any further channels will be in the 40s. I still don't get the point of BBC4 moving to 9 for ITV3 to move to 10, when ITV3 could have easily fitted in at 9.

The 30 channel gap seems very strange as well - my only guess is that Freeview hope to move the shopping channels and Top Up TV to new sections in the 40s, 50s and 60s.

I think though the reason Teletext has gone for channel 100 is due to p100 being it's traditional homepage!

Not picked up ITV4 or Channel 8 myself - no idea what Channel 8 could be, but perhaps it could be put to use using the hour long TeleG slot from 6-7pm on a regional basis across the country.

Hymagumba - don't know if it's possible, but if you can borrow one try a different Freeview box with your aerial and see if you pick up E4. It seems a very strange problem!

Thanks for that, Brekkie Boy. I just did a re-scan and it picked up the missing channels. It's quite strange really, as the weather here isn't that bad. It was raining lightly earlier on, but nothing more than that.

I had the same problem earlier on (around 5pm). I retuned the box but Sky News and some EMAP radio channels were gone. Rescanned and they were back.

The weather's fine here.

I ahve two already. it's marked as encypted on both of them.

Oh and I borrowed my aunties one day a few months back and it did the same.

It's not actually encrypted. it's just flagged as being encrypted which means that my box ignores it by default. i have to do another scan adn delete the topup tv channels by hand.

OK.

You've possibly tried this, but the only other thing I can suggest trying is to completely reset your Set Top Box (rather than doing a channel rescan).

P.S. ITV4 is on Mux 2, along with ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV News - so at the moment at least, it looks like ITV News will be sacrificed.

I wish I'd known about the problems with Humax boxes before I did my re-scan tonight.

Be careful, your box might start re-booting itself when you are flicking through the channels, especially around the E4 / QVC area and mine did it on ITV3 earlier. See digital spy for more details Sad

All present and correct from Bluebell Hill transmitter (Kent). Missing Channels 8 and 30 though. Maybe to come.

Hi,

Does anyone else have one of these ( Pioneer DBRTF-100GB ) ? I have two of them and rescanned both yesterday - new EPG is working fine, but both will switch off (standby) if tuned to E4.

At first I thought my older box was faulty but the fault is duplicated on my 2nd one. Both have the newest software and the new, reshuffled EPG.

I use the Mendip transmitter.

I have a different box, but yesterday E4 did occassionally switch off the box, especially when you press RED for the rescan info, then try and go back to E4.

Hmmm....mine does it sytematically, every time. I'm not much of a fan of Friends (does E4 show anything else?) so it's not too much of a problem for me, but it'd be great if someone knew of a fix...Pioneer??

My Philips box does exactly the same thing - every time I select E4 it freezes and I have to unplug and re-plug to get it working again.

A simple rescan can often fix the problem.

Talking of Freeview, MediaGuardian reports today that OFCOM will be seeking two additional muxes once the analogue signal is switched off.

Quote:
The difficulty for the government, and indeed for the regulator, Ofcom, which is in charge of the UK's spectrum licensing, is that all new spectrum allocations must be coordinated with other countries to avoid interference and the next international conference to deal with these kinds of issues doesn't take place until June of next year at the Regional Radiocommunication Conference in Geneva. At the conference, Ofcom is planning to ask for enough frequencies to add two new multiplexes (a suite of eight to 10 channels in a certain frequency band, also known by acronym MUX) to add to the UK's existing six MUXs. The problem is that there is no assurance that the UK will get its preferred allocation. "The RRC could throw a real spanner in the works," said one industry insider.

"Ofcom says that they'll wait until after the RRC to tell us if there will be one or two new MUXs," says Holebrook. "But that will be too late because we'll have fitted the first antennae by then."
