RE 40-69 - if multiplexes after digi switchoff will all be running at 64QAM thats a possible 8 x 4 more streams - 32 streams. I think they're being left open for them.

Not sure how you reach that figure of 32?

Currently 4 of the 6 DTT muxes are 18Mbs, 2 are 24Mbs.

If all 4 18Mbs services moved to 24Mbs then that would be a 4x6 Mbs increase in platform bandwith, which is 24Mbs (equivalent to adding a new mux).

You couldn't squeeze 32 streams into 24Mbs - you'd be doing well to get 6 decent quality (but we don't bother with that on the other muxes...) or 10 at far-from-high quality - 32 is not possible, unless you think more muxes will be created after analogue switch-off or are taking some time-shifting of multiple channels into account.

I think there should be a way to get Top Up TV on slotless boxes. I think they should launch that on 18th October to tie in with the relaunch . . . .

With 26 posts since joining at lunchtime, might I respectfully request you go for quality, rather than quantity?

Moving on (please do - I don't want this thread closed!)...

Re: post-switch off channels. Even though in theory there could be more channels available after analogue switch-off, personally I don't think that should be a factor in the current EPG line up.

Yes, leave some flexibility for the addition of new channels - but I'm not expecting this EPG reshuffle to be the last, and would expect further changes once the analogue signal is switched off!

I take your point, Brekkie Boy, but as somebody who's good at remembering numbers, I'm all for the fewest EPG changes possible.

Get the spacing out sorted now, then there's less need to change numbers later.

don't eb silly. that only occurs when we start having debates involving long posts.

I can uderstand spacing things out but this is freeview - platform of space lacking, therefore it seems rather pointless.

Some faults I can see with this channel line up.

32 E4 + 1 (moved from 39) ---- why move E4+1????
33 Eurosport (new LCN)*
34 Setanta Sports (new LCN)*
36 Xtraview*
37 Quiz Call
38 Men & Motors ---- is this where ITV4 will be???

CHILDRENS - moved from 30's
70 CBBC Channel
71 CBeebies
72 Cartoon Network* ---- why not CITV here???
73 Boomerang*
74 Toonami*

101 Teletext TV Guide ---- This channel no longer exists!
