Doesn't it take space from the second BBCi stream? What happens when they want to do a two stream interactive service before 9am, such as with the Olympics - or are they assuming those instances will be so few they can tackle that later?
bid-up.tv is currently on-air 5am(?)-7pm and is timesharing with TCM (7pm-5am). QVC is avaliable 6pm-around 6am and is on all day at weekends. QVC is timesharing with S4C2. bid-up.tv could possibly be removed in Wales for ABC1 but no-one's sure about this.
it seems plausible. Sit Up were going to lose one channel at the end of this year when Price-Drop's contract on Mux2 ended in order for More4 to start in January. However if as is believed that Price Drop is actually more popular than Bid Up, then Price Drop may move to Mux A in England and Scotland and Bid Up would disappear- leaving room in Wales for abc1.
A possiblilty, if not a probability methinks. The idea of bringing falling-price auctions to bidup may not be in fact a reaction to PD disappearing from Freeview, but a bid (no pun intended) to win over viewers from its more popular sister.
If it means one less shopping channel on Freeview then I for one am happy.
