Yes, but the point is that it wasn't always called Freeview+ and that brand could have been used for the DVB-T2 service if they'd stuck it out a while longer.

But at that point anyone marketing DVB-T2 receivers as anything other than 'Freeview HD' would have been a fool wouldn't they?

Possibly in the short-term, but not in the long-term IMO.

I disagree - anyone marketing DVB-T2 receivers, which had the unique USP of receiving HD, without putting HD in the brand name would have been certifiable...

Sky HD vs Freeview +? Which would one would you think gave you HD?

It's kind of irrelevant now, as new mainstream DVB-T only devices are disappearing.

Well, whatever, the channels on COM7 and 8 have tiny audiences, I've seen 0.7% share quoted for BBC News HD and BBC 4 HD, (which are COM7's most popular services). Considering C0M7/8 were an industry initiative to drive the sales of T2 equipment, to accelerate T1 switch off, it's all been rather a failure. Explaining to Joe Public they require an 'HD' receiver, to see SD channels such as Tiny Pop and Free Sports (and in NI the RTE channels), just adds a layer of confusion !

It's not on the website but according to the Radio Times website which has listings up to 14 September, FreeSports have the Ireland v West Indies one day international on 13 September.

The picture softness, mentioned upthread, struck me on day one even on my 22'' set.

Watching a few minutes of a motorsport event on there last night on my parents' 40 inch screen was pretty unpleasant from a tech standpoint.

Interesting tweet, they were asked about going HD.

It’d be nice to see it in HD - considering how earlier comments in the thread have remarked about the sub-par image quality on both Sky and Freeview.

But aside from that, bolstering their range of sports rights would be a bigger priority for them, though.
