Is this stupid or what?

Sky have launched Freesat from Sky which has more channels than Freeview for £150. Freeview has less channels and varies prices.

However, Freesat from Sky does have more channels, but it doesn't have some channels that freeview have! Like Men and Motors, abc1 and More4 (i think) which you get in Freeview but not Freesat!

Is it really worth paying the money and not getting the good channels?

Errrmmm... Freesat from Sky was launched ages ago. And BBC/ITV Freesat has been announced recently.

(And no, it's not worth it)

How much is it for one to "subscribe" to Sky Freesat if you already have the box and dish installed and just require the card?

£20.

I've been wanting to get it but it's the fact that they don't offer certain channels.

The channels available on Freesat: http://www.wickonline.com/fta.htm

May be more channels than Freeview, but probably less quality channel - most are shopping, gaming or specialist channels rather than traditional channels, with just a handful of minority sport, movies and news channels you wouldn't get on Freeview.

The Interactive services would be the main selling point for me, but I'd rather have the dozen or so extra Freeview channels than the hundreds of Freesat channels.

Pop into your local LIDL and you can get a FTA satellite receiver system for about £80 all told. You dont need to buy the £20 card from Sky as this only lets you get the FTV channels (ITV1, C4, ITV2, five) which, if you've got Freeview, you already have.

Screw $ky at their own game. Or wait 6 months and get the BBC ITV Freesat.
