We have a Freesat HD box from Bush and each night it seems to retune itself. We live in the ITV Granada region (Manchester) and it rescans for the UTV region!

Obviously this isn't normal, but what can we do?

When we go to bed we have BBC One NW, ITV1 Granada etc but when we get up we have BBC One NI and UTV. We have to do a complete reinstall every morning.

Could it be that we're on a shared dish (installed for Sky)?

Also, what has happened to some of the kids channels, ie Pop etc on Freesat - have they ceased broadcasting?

Shared dish should cause no issues as long as it is properly set-up - and you can receive all four bands (LoH, LoV, HiH, HiV) independently of all other users.

Sounds like it is "forgetting" your postcode overnight? Might be worth returning it as faulty.

The postcode in the set up always shows up as M7 ***, not a Northern Ireland one... have called Freesat this morning and apparently it's a known issue when using a shared dish.

F**king typical!

Who first mentioned the fact that you have a shared dish? You or them?

Please correct me if I am wrong but I don't see anyway that a shared dish would cause you to receive the wrong region. I'm sure they could be correct in saying it's a known issue (with the postcode mapping in the box maybe) but I really can't see what a shared dish has got to do with it.

The dish will have no part to play in this as it only recieves a signal. It's the box that displays the correct region on your tv.

I don't see how on earth it can be... If your shared dish is set-up correctly then it is transparent and identical to a standard single LNB feed. I think they're fobbing you off.

Try setting the postcode to another in your area. I had issues with my foxsat box not liking my postcode so the installer used a "generic" one, as long as its in the region you want to receive it’ll work well enough and should cure your problem. Try not to use a neighbour, but a random office on the other side of town but as I say within you region.

Try not to use a neighbour...

...As they're likely to have the same postcode...

Well I thought I'd point it out.

All sorted now - apparently the box (because we have it plugged into an Ethernet connection to the BT HomeHub) has been doing a software update each night and comes back with the BT1 1AA postcode but doesn't show it in the settings so we have to manually alter them. Did notice today though that a lot of the ITV regions have appeared in the 8*** series of channels way up the platform.

Freesat have apologised for the error and said that it will get itself sorted once the BBC iPlayer becomes available on Freesat later this month (in beta) and they have said that our Freesat HD box will be compatible - hence the Ethernet cable is plugged in.

And why is BBC Entertainment, BBC World News, Cbeebies (Polska) and BBC Lifestyle turning up on the EPG in the 9*** numbers? Although we get sound and a 'Press Red for HD' prompt but no picture?

Could be that these channels are on Eurobird (which has some Eastern European stuff?) which shares a similar orbital position with Astra 2 (and carries some Freesat/Sky Digital stuff)

Not sure why it would appear in the EPG - unless your receiver is in non-Freesat mode when it sees them?
