Nice to see that Frank Sidebottom is back and alive and well.

I used to love him on Saturday Morning Television - Especially the TVS shows out of Maidstone.

Just found that he is doing Open Top Bus tours in his own town of Timperley in Cheshire on Sunday 30th July.

I'm definately going to book this one - It sounds fun !!!

Grrr....

Timperley, Altrincham, Trafford (as in the same town where Manchester United play their homes games), GREATER MANCHESTER. It used to be in cheshire, but not since 1974. - just like Warrington is not in Cheshire and Blackburn is not in Lancashire and Preston is now a CITY!!!!!

I always put Cheshire when sending stuff there and It always arrives - Oh well.

Frank has been around for a good 20 years and more.

The gig in London in which Iain Lee attended was a huge success at the Bull And Gate.

Onwards and Upwards

Sorry its just a small bug-bear with me as I was taught to use the new counties at school. Plus I like aggrevating United fans by saying that they don't actually play in Manchester and it is perfectly correct (ohh its the Wanderers in me Laughing Laughing )

But it is fantastic to see Frank back - it has been a long long while

Sorry for going OT, but some of us live in South Warrington, which has always been part of Cheshire, though there have been a few people recently who've campaigned to get North Warrington back into Lancashire. Laughing

Anyway, Widnes is the stupid one, it used to be in Lancashire, it claims to be in Cheshire, but it should be in Merseyside.

What a comedy genius. I still have some tapes of the "Fantastic Shed Show" (or something like that) from the early 90s. Also I remember him on "Remote Control", a Channel 4 teatime quizshow hosted by Anthony H Wilson!

BTW, I'm from Grappenhallshire - we have our own county.

Yes it is. In fact, BBC Radio Lancashire are based in Blackburn.

err no its not.....

the borough has taken down all LCC signs and replcaed them with Blackburn with darwen signs - its only when you leave Blackburn that once comes across LCC signs and Bolton/Bury signs.

Blackburn with Darwen, for the last 6 years has had the same autonomy as Bolton, Bury, Wigan, Rochdale, Oldham, etc... They officially do not belong to a county.

I was born in Bolton, Lancashire, my sister was born in Bolton, Greater Manchester but my nephew was born in Bolton. But due to belongingness (I know that isn't a word but its the descript yet!) people do tend to put/use the county name they were bron/grew up in.
