Regional Saturday morning special when Going Live wasn't on, The 8.15 From Manchester.

This is the show that will go down in notoriety for introducing credit-squeezing to children's TV, namely in their repeats of Rentaghost and later Grandad. One week someone complained, so after reading out that person's letter they somewhat grudgingly switched back to the Rentaghost credits.

Another one that just came into my head - So You Want To Be Top? which had a really catchy theme tune ( if only I could remember it all. So you want to be T-O-P, you've gotta make it B-I-G, you can't be an F-L-O-P etc ). Presented by Gary Wilmot round about 1985 / 6 and I seem to remember he had female twins helping him out in one of the series, and a dodgy " wheeler dealer " type guy too.

The rest of it went:

So you want to be top,
So you want to be top,
So you want to be TOP!

Lol thanks - but there was also a kind of rap for the verse that I couldn't remember.

Dianne Oxberry presenting, the Inspiral Carpets doing the theme tune, "The Wetter The Better" live from the Blackpool Sandcastle. Wonderful!

BBC NorthWest used to produce a lot of the summer programmes. On the Waterfront was a particular favourite of mine.

Very Happy I'm trying to recall the name of that programme which was aimed at deaf/hard-of-hearing children, and it featured Neil Buchanan (of Art Attack fame). I seem to remember it had hands in gloves doing silly things Laughing

Not the BBC's finest hour in children's programmes, even with Mark Curry presenting it baffles me how they thought youngsters would have been interested in the era of Harold Lloyd or the Keystone Cops.

Arthur Loaf, he was called, but he was taken out of later series and the producer appeared on "Take Two" explaining his reasons for doing so.

What were the reasons then?

That much I don't remember! But I'll hazard a guess he wasn't popular.
