Nope, his real name is Edward Fidoe - I actually know him as he went to my school!
My other bizarre claim to fame is knowing Elliot Tiney, who had the lead role in the 1999 ITV drama Walking On The Moon , a drama about school bullying.

Was this his real name, or a stage name adopted as a running gag?

Loved Knightmare. Treguard - or however you spell it - rocked.
Also Ren and Stimpy were around in the early '90s (when I was about 15/16) on BBC2 tea-time. What a show.

Although that was the show which brought Elliot to prominence, many people forget he appeared as an eco-warrior in the 1997/98 series of The Ward. His character fell for another patient (Kelly Greenwood, Hollyoaks) whose dad only happened to be the construction boss who tore down the road he was desperate to save!

Yeah! Great stuff that was.
The names this topic has thrown up have certainly brought back a few memories for me. Somebody mentioned It'll Never Work, a show which I could remember well but, until now, had completely forgotten what the name was - so thanks for the reminder!

The Lowdown - if I misssed it in my earlier post

Stephen Boxer would be the other one you're thinking of.
There was a great out-take from Get Up and Go on It'll Be Alright on the Night 3 when Stephen, sitting at the piano, is about to begin the story: "There's a letter in the the story today. One day, Billie and and the animals were sitting on top of a hill when...." - when the shelving behind him collapses.
A case of Get Up and Go - got up and went.

My favourite felines were Mooncat on " Get Up and Go! " and then " Mooncat and Co ". The first had Beryl Reid as one of the two presenters - the other was a guy called Steven who stayed on to the second programme two.

Puzzle Trail used to be a favourite of mine too. It ran in the " Jackanory slot " for two and sometimes three weeks in the first weeks of the new season in September and involved finding the right location ( via a large treasure map ) or in one series finding out who committed a crime based on a series of daily clues and stories told by characters.
Howard Stableford presented a couple of series and Davy Jones from The Monkees presented one. It was devised / written by Clive Doig ( Jigsaw / Beat the Teacher etc )

Playbox. First time I saw a Central "Production for ITV" slide, IIRC!
That reminds me .... Woof! , when it starred Sarah Smart. Filmed round my neck of the woods too
Knightmare was always my favourite show when I was a kid-- shame they had to scrap it.
Ah you must live around the Moseley area then
The first few series were definately the best of the lot, with Edward Fidoe (who now runs his own theatre company I beleive), Tom Aldwinkle and of course Sarah Smart. Then there was Liza Goddard and John Ringham as Mrs Jessop and Mr Blocker who were classic!

The next generation was when they moved production from Birmingham to Nottingham, and funnily enough started filming around my neck of the woods. However Eric and his family also moved house in the latter part of the original run, so I guess that might have also been the point where production moved.
At this point it switched over to Rex (Adam Roper) who turned into a white dog, aswell as his friend Michael. His dad was played by Owen Brenman, who was Nick Swaney in One Foot in the Grave. It wasn't as good as the original but at least it still starred the irreplacable Liza Goddard, who went on to marry Rex's dad.

The third incarnation wasn't so great as they tried to inject a lot of dumbed down comedy into it, but I watched it all the same. By now it was Jim (Sebastian Mahjouri) who turned into a ginger and black dog, helped by his friends Brian and Carrie (who I live down the road from and went to school with). Again the only bit of continuity with the previous series was Liza Goddard, and a small appearance from Rex and Michael.
Myself and my grandma were huge fans, she even wrote off for me and I've got pawprinted publicity cards from the first 2 dogs.
I've still got the 3 videos and 3 books released from the original incarnation, - but its a real shame that the rest of original series has never been released or repeated - it's probably too much to hope with all these classics being released on DVD that Woof will ever see the light of day again! I'd give anything to see them again!
Yep you're correct, he played Eric's dad Charles.
As for Knightmare, that was another one I love. Fortunately I was able to buy the whole series from eBay - yes they're only recordings from Challenge, but as someone who has never had Sky, and the fact that its obvious that it's never going to be released on DVD, I don't really care.
Other shows I loved:
Spatz
Mike and Angelo
The Dreamstone
Harry's Mad
Charlie Chalk (now on DVD)
Original Thomas the Tank (now on DVD)
Playdays
Playbox
The Gingerbread Man
Tugs
Fun House
Incredible Games
Raggy Dolls
Shoe People
Puddle Lane
Bangers & Mash
Pugwall
T-Bag
Josie Smith - does ANYONE remember this?! No-one I know
EDIT: I have just found that a couple of Woof DVD'S have been released in the USA under the name 'A Boy Called Woof' - it's probably only DVD versions of the ones I've got already but I still might get them to have the better quality - only around £3 on ebay
