Woof! Yes. Wasn't PC Valentine (John Bowler) from The Bill in that? Or have I got the wrong person.

Activ8
It'll Never Work (hosted by Sally Gray and that theme tune by Depeche Mode).

Oh - forgot about Activ8. Remember its predecessors " Stopwatch " and " Move It "? Stopwatch had Paul McDowell as well as copresenters, and Move it had Simon O'Brien and an actress from Grange Hill.

Yes, I remember "Activ8", "Stopwatch" and "Move It!"

Move It! had three series: summer 1988, summer 1989 and summer 1990 (its last one). The 1989 series was presented by Andy Nulty and Fiona Lee-Frazer.

A Handful Of Songs - a couple of hippies singing sea shanties! Laughing

Presented by Keith Field and Maria Morgan originally, there was also a companion series Song Book, with Leo Dove and Kathy Jones. This was last shown on Granada Plus ten years ago.

Song Book was the first programme on the first day the new ITV franchises in 1982 (apart from on TVS which opted out to show "Bring In The New").

TROGGLES
Does anyone remember Hickory House? I seem to remember it was on ITV at lunchtime. I vaguely remember a grumpy puppet called Humphrey cushion and possibly a mop but can't remember its name.

Thanks I thought I had dreamed it! do you have a link or is TVARK that is currently unavailable?

Anyone remember the early tvam programmes for children? I remember Data Run presented by a Scottish woman who used to speak to her computer, and one which I think was called Splat! which included James Baker ( later of WAC ) in a game show in which if the contestants got the question wrong an " egg " would open above their head, the audience would make clucking noises and out would poor feathers and / or gunge.

I remember Data Run. It was aimed at 8 to 14 year olds, I was 11 when it first came out (1983) and enjoyed it every Saturday morning the first few months that TV-am was broadcasting. It included the week's top ten singles under the banner "Disc Data". Not sure whether it was the official top ten (as used by the BBC), or a different chart provider. Does anyone know?

The first year (1983) Data Run went off the air for the summer, during which it was replaced with "Summer Run". I didn't like that so much. That featured "Breakfast Beach", and "The Rock Shop Top Ten". Good pun there - rock, double meaning (rock as in the seaside sweet, i.e. stick of rock; and rock music). In fact they said "Up one stick" or "down two sticks".

Does anyone remember the other TV-am kids' programme, "Rub-A-Dub-Tub", featuring the Breakfast Beans, and the cartoon "Mole"? It lasted an hour, was shown on Sundays before Good Morning Britain. It was for 4 to 8 year olds, but I none theless I still watched it (aged 11) during the first few months of TV-am (Feb to Aug 1983).

How about "Grandad", the post-Dad's Army children's vehicle for Clive Dunn - he devised it in conjunction with Rentaghost writer Bob Block from what I remember, and sang the theme song too.

How could you mention "Grandad" and "Rentaghost" on the "Forgotten Children's Television Programmes" thread. Surely they belong on a "well remembered children's programmes" thread.

Anyone remember Cockleshell Bay or Portland Bill?

Yes, I remember both. Was the children's programme "Portland Bill" named after the tip of Portland in Dorset?

Anyone remember "Clock On! " which was a series of sketches with Su Pollard, Christopher Lillicrap ( fab name ) and someone else. I distinclty remember there was an earlier series called " We're Clocking On! " with amongst others Derek Griffiths, but can find no reference to this anywhere... If anyone can confirm I'd be grateful!

Yes I remember "Clock On!". I thought it was a load of rubbish.

Also on the subject of Christoper Lillicrap...there's Playboard, We'll Tell You A Story and Busker.

I remember "Playboard", it was on BBC1 (aka B1) Sunday mornings at 9am, in the opening sequence you saw a circus tent lifting up from being on the ground to fully standing, and it had the "Play Board" logo on the canvas. I used to watch that each week. Remember Mole and Hedge (a hedgehog) from it?

Why Don't You? is hardly a forgotten children's show, it did after all give one Ant McPartlin a springboard to fame (unfortunately).

I endorse what you say there. "Why Don't You" must be one of the best remembered children's programmes, just like Swap Shop and Tiswas.
