Well C4 did "The Search" - which was basically a historical version in some respects - though in others absolutely nothing like it.

That's been axed though - which is a shame considering it was actually pretty good - and a clever way of getting people like me to watch a history programme.

We should be able to do 'The Daily Show' but sadly can't. When did America start doing satire better then us? Rolling Eyes We're still stuck with the tired 'Have I Got News For You' and it's many unfunny clones.

We do have a Daily Show near-clone in the form of BBC4's "The Late Edition" which is funny but it's not really going to equal or better TDS, nothing really can.

This.

Britain can do Doctor Who so I don't see why a tokusatsu show here would be hard. The only problem is not many people grew up with it so they ridicule it.All you know it as is Power Rangers. You will probably even dismiss this as Power Rangers and stop watching after five seconds. And Sentai does things that the american company, not just Disney, will cut.For example in Gaoranger Shirogane transformed with a bit of blood at the side of his mouth.Similar thing in Boukenger.Neither occasion happened in Power Rangers.

Sorry for the lecture.

Maybe because it's because the only thing we know it for is a 90's fad.

We will be having Don't Forget The Lyrics! on Sky One next spring. A US format produced by RDF. It features contestants singing to well known songs from years gone by but have to complete the missing words once the live band stops. It's basically "Karaoke Millionaire (their lifelines are called backups) but it's very uplifting show.

Didn't ITV do that with JK and Joel in the summer?

Sing It Back was based on an US format called The Singing Bee. While Don't Forget The Lyrics is based on another US format. Where Sing It Back used master tracks for their music and the contestant complete the song when it stopes. Lyrics uses a live backing band and the contestant have to sing from the start, karoke style. Lyrics is basically a mix of Smarter Than a 10 Year Old and Millionaire.

Think Amazing Race is much more BBC Two, Channel Four or possibly Five than BBC One or ITV1.

But because one of the main channels has never shown the U.S version, the format has not really taken off here, which is a shame. The amazing race is more of a cult show here for the small number of fans who know about it.

A sad, lonely opinion floating in a sea of mediocrity.
