Only fools and horses has become a joke in itself. It is like a dying old lady kept alive by any means possible, despite being unable to see, hear, taste, walk...or vitally, laugh.

A lethal injection is all that is good for it now.

Discuss.

This coming episode is meant to be the last one- though who bets it will be back in a few years? John Sullivan has said he's more than willing to make some more.

They should have ended on a high,The Office made a sucsess of being a short series in comparison. When 'Uncle Albert' died they should have left it there, giving th show a great legacy, more episodes now are just overkill.

The "GARY!" episode first shown last year was a classic. Whether this alleged "last ever" episode
due to shown this Christmas, is as achingly funny as last year's episode, remains to be seen . . .

I will discuss it if I want to! If people want to discuss things, then they can. It is not up to you to say "Discuss" and expect everyone to reply!

Anyway...I don't agree with you anyway! As already said, The GARY episode was classic TV last year and I expect the show will return in the future!

I think it's being artificially stretched out past it's sell by date. It hasn't been in regular production for over 10 years. It game to a wonderful and fitting end in 1996 (amongst great hype too) before suddenly being brought out of retirement 5 years later, completely ruining the 1996 episodes. And then the 3 new episodes they made were supposed to be shown as a self contained mini series over christmas and new years 2001/2, before backpedalling and showing them as one off christmas specials in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

With these supposedly being the final episodes, evidence that 'final doesn't necessarily mean final no matter how tightly and completely the series is wound up), and John Sullivan wanting to write some more (and who probably will get a recomission for another 2004 chrismas special), they will inevitably just weaken it further.

OFAH is great and a classic, but what they are doing will just run it into the ground (they've shown that they've allready largely done that by it not being able to support a proper series now) before it is unceremoniously pulled (probably without a decent ending as they gave it in 1996).

I agree. What is there to discuss? If this was now a crap show then 17 million peoplw wouldn.t still be watching it. What else on tv can even come remotely close to this classic? If John Sullivan writes more and the cast are happy to oblige, then I will watch as will millions of others. What's the alternative? Another series Of EYES DOWN or the lacklustre efforts from ITV? Seems people are trying to compare eighties and early nineties episodes to modern day. Life moves on and that's all Only Fools has done. One show that should come to a respectful and dignified end is Last Of The Summer Wine. Does anyone agree with me?

Yeah alright boys, easy. When I said discuss - I wasn't forcing you. It's a pretty standard way of setting up a debate. Despite your apparent upset it seems I have tricked you into making your opinion known....

I think Chris' post sums the situation up - the loose ends of the saga were tied up in 1996, everything that has followed has weakened the show.

Continue to discuss (but don't feel pressured to do so - your choice)

Best Wishes
