So no one remembers Jail Break then?

I vaguely remember it. It was most notable for the set becoming flooded after heavy rainfall. It was located in the middle of a field, pretty daft idea to begin with!

Ah righ, i never knew that. I just remember watching it the odd morning. I guess the concept looked good on paper....

Only thing I recall about Jailbreak is firstly, I didn't watch it - and secondly it had the woman in who went on to take part in Survivor.

(By the way ITV, C4 bought back Shipwrecked, the BBC are doing the same with Castaway so it's time you bought back your best reality format - though this time don't let anyone called Mark host it!)

They should bring back 'The Mole' - that was the best show on TV back in 2000 / 2001

I believe it's presenter has made a name for himself in the finance industry in the last couple of years.

Perhaps the worst programme has to be " Touch the Truck " or whatever it was called.

Saturday and Sunday lunchtime show with Josie D'Arby was "The Mag."

Actually, I find the Gadget Show quite watchable too.

I have a TV guide from the week channel 5 launched. It had a page decidated to Family Affairs explaning who's who and on the front it had channel 5 in a easter egg next to the current 4 channels.

Has kid's strand Milkshake been arond from the start in some form or another?

I remember "5's Company" in the afternoon - around 2pm I think after Sunset Beach. Think the mornings were taken up with US chat shows, and IIRC 5 News at Noon didn't launch until after a year or so.

Also they broadcast their overnight US sport under the banner "Live and Dangerous", which itself included a final 5 News Update around 1am IIRC.

Channel 5 was much better when it first started, as others have said, at least it was providing an alternative with it's stranded schedules, hourly news updates etc

Now they are just another channel, filled with either programmes dropped from other channels or overused US dramas, somewhere between a poor mans Channel 4 and Sky One. No wonder their ratings are down 9% so far this year

Not exactly, when Channel 5 started, they showed Kids programmes daily between 7.30am and 8.30am, but they used a special version of a normal ident (a child and an adult going on a bike, with the '5' logo on the back of a shirt ISTR) and they usually had a 5 News Update at 8.00am aswell.

By the end of 1997 Milkshake had started, but by 1998 the Breakfast schedule got a shake up, the 7-7.30am part of 5 News Early moved to 12.00pm and WideWorld (is that still shown?) was moved from 8.30am to 7.00am, although within a year or two Milkshake had expanded, only since 2005 or so Milkshake has dominated all the morning without the News here or there.

And of course Night Fever, which was probably Five's biggest hit in it's first couple of years.

Even the one thing they've made any impact in - the football - has got worse and worse over the years - well, the presenters at least.

Steve Scott proved himself to be an excellent anchor when football first appeared on the channel, with John Barnes proving the exact opposite - and though I generally quite like Colin Murray, he's no sports broadcaster and is embarrassing to watch anchoring Five's UEFA Cup games - though tomorrow he'll be locked up in the Fame Academy.
