OK, not being around a TV at present, is this daft idea real or not?
"Channel 5 is a name. Five is a brand"...was the complete b*llocks which brought us 'five' in the first place after the original '5' logo which, after 5 1/2 years, had just about become established and accepted was banished forever. It now appears that branding considering the 'living and breathing embodiment' of the channel's output is what will take it away again - apparently with the new exciting 'five' brand which was so tremendously important just over 3 years ago now being something to be resigned to the scrapheap.
How about they just design something that looks good and works well on screen...oh hang on, they did that in 1997 (complete with the word 'five' in idents too). It would seem that, sadly, the 2000's policy of introducing complete sh*te as presentation, but hiding it behind marketing speak claptrap isn't quite dead yet.
Can someone define 'confident evolution' please? I'm quite surprised that the new look isn't 'more coherent' and 'simplified' aswell.

It represents much more than a corporate logo, it is a living and breathing embodiment of everything the channel stands for," said Davis.

The new image was commissioned by head of creative services Nol Davies, who said the change was a "confident evolution" of Five's on air image.
