I dont why they need to do this now , it doesnt seem a good time. Or even the right time to change things.
Some previous campaigns worked well , but this looks slightly less of a good idea. I'll just have to see them and then judge. I hope they dont get left with egg ( or anything else ) on their face after this change.
I can't pass opinion on the basis of one ident and some press coverage as that's hardly telling you exactly how every ident will look and feel.
I'll reserve a more full opinion until Monday when I get to see them. It seems to me that if these idents are complimentary rather than a total replacement they'd probably get a slightly better reception.
Sorry just thought Id sign up to put forward the possibility that perhaps Five's owners RTL are diluting the brand in preparation for a name change? Seems rather odd that they would do away with the logo entirely, and I wouldnae be surprised if in a few months suddenly a RTL logo styled in the font of Five appeared.

Not seen anything official - but a have a vague recollection of there being possibly just a single post here some time ago that there would be some changes to Five News early this year!

Not at all. Those comments are as sound as a pound! At least they make sense! Not like Freeview Cool Man's recent efforts (!?) on other threads!
Thing is, is it simply just a new batch of idents because it seems that's all it'll be and most likely won't last the year before something new comes up to replace it.. and maybe not RTL, me being the cyncical type who feels RTL isn't in a position to replace a stronger brand.
Nope, channel five news is sticking to the current set / titles and look at the moment.
I understand people are speculating over a station name change with the banishing of the 'five' logo, but I really have not heard anything official in regards to this.
Im sure channel five will still use the 'five' logo on adverts promoting new programmes, otherwise the viewers would get extremely confused!
